Ok now I understand haha it all makes sense now! what size overflow box would you recommend for the 120? I would like to only buy one so it needs to be powerful enough. and do I need to use a power head or not?

Again your overflow box depends on the size of your return pump. For a tank that size id get a 900-1200 GPH return pump and find an overflow that will handle more than that. I consider "gravity feed" as a tank that is drilled so as the pump fills the tank when it gets to a level it will make its way to the sump. An overflow box "HOB overflow" requites a siphon to pull tank water over the edge to make its way to the sump. I personally would never use the HOB overflow that has an upside down J siphon tube. The extra money you pay for a CPR style box will save you maintenance and possible heartache later.

Powerheads are your choice for water movement in the tank.
