My tank is 48" across by 17ish" high. I am running two power filters and two 100 w submersable heaters. From my research it says to put them under the power filters, but how far down the tank do I place them (top? middle? bottom?) Thanks! Hopefully soon I won't be a unknowledged newbie
Close to the filter but not too close to the intake. I have mine on the opposite side of the filter form the intake, maybe 3 inches away. As for how deep, the deeper the better. Protects them when you do a water change and the heaters will be working at the bottom which should be the coldest area of the tank. Laying them horizontal is not a bad thing either. Then I would place them 2 inches above the substrate to prevent fish from possible breaking them by hitting them against the substrate. It also helps prevent heating dead spots from being too close to the substrate.
Thanks alot guys! This information is great! I was losing faith in this forum everytime I post I don't get reply's! Thank you 3!
