Yes you could put the spraybar on the side of the tank at one end with the intake on the other end.
Horizontally would give better flow more evenly than mounting it vertically.

Thanks. In my eagerness I may have hooked the hoses up wrong and cut them too short to go the right way...

I see, Perhap's you could place the filter on a table next to the tank which should give you some more hose until you can order some longer length's of hose?
Not very attractive ,but would work temporarily.

I got one a week ago and mounted bar on left end and intake on right back. Works well. I think I have too much current. Another thread mentioned getting a dremel and small drill bit and putting some more holes in the bar, to increase volume and reduce current. I am changing water on Saturday and i plan on doing this, then as well. Good Luck.

Where did you drill the holes, in line with the others or behind or below or what?

I drilled mostly behind and some below. Very pleased with results.

So I drilled the holes and it was still too much current so I was planning to build like a cover thing with suction cups and a cut up 2 liter then I had the ingenious idea of just facing the original holes towards the back glass and it works great. Before it was like blowing the betta around.
