Hi All. I am going to purchase a 45 gal and set it up for freshwater. I want to use a Fluval 305. Will this be large enough? Is it a noisey filter? We have a small house so noise is a consideration. I intially wanted to run it up through the floor from the basement , but instructions say no more than 4 1/2 feet below the water line. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks

A Fluval 305 is rated at 185gph, at a cost of about $150. What will you be putting in the tank? I would run a ugf with (2)Marineland 660r reverse flow power heads(270gph total, $45 and $15 for the filter plate.

I still have about $90 to spend. I would add an Emperor 280 power filter, 280gph, cost around $35.

Wow, we have more than tripled your filtration, made maintainance easier, stayed quiet, and still have $55 to spend on fish!!!

Thanks all. I went with the Rena Filstar xP3. Very quiet. Would get another if I set up another tank.
