Filtration vs GPH

I have a 75 gallon tank that has 6-Cichlids, 1- Plecos, and 2- Pacus (Large)

I am current ly using a Fulva 405 canister filter (306 GPH) for my tank and thinking of adding an additional canister filter. My mind set is the cleaner the water will result in healthy fish?

My question is: What is the min GPH requirment for "Good" filteration? and is it possible to over filter?

Can you over filter your fish tank?

Thanks!

Hello & Welcome to the forum

I do not find your filter inadequate for the size tank you have nor its stock. The only thing you'd gain from a add filter is more water movement (which if you have planted tank is actually not desired).
The water would run thought filters more do take some debris out of the tank, however that doesn't really help what fish leave behind as in achieving healthier water quality that you're hoping for. To achieve that you have to do a weekly 30-40% water exchange, THAT will be much better for your fish then adding another filter.

So if you want my honest opinion, leave it as it is and just do proper weekly w/c with gravel vac and you'll be good.

You would benefit more from building your own sump then buying another canister, only by increasing the amount of water in the system and adding beaucoup more bioligical filtration capabilities
