This is for a 46 gallon planted tank. Should I go with the eheim ecco 2234 or eheim 2213. 2213 is much cheaper but has anyone had trouble with it, is it not as good...etc
Thanks!

Well if I was going to get an Eheim canister filter and could afford a couple extra bucks I would get the the 2234. It looks like it is much easier to use, has the same number of baskets and looks cooler. I am for an easier to use system and the 2234 looks like it should be just that. I would however make sure to order some other filter material as you don't need the carbon all the time, just when removing meds.

If I had some bucks to spend and had to decide between Ecco or 2213 I'd get the 2215. LOL. Crazy right? Hey if they are the same price get th elarger one. Actually I prefer my Classics to any of the other models. I own them all. The Classics are easy to maintain, have plenty of valves for maintenance. The Ecco do not have valves on the unit itself so they can leak a little when pulling from under a tank. One good function of the Ecco (not known by most) is that you fill them with water after cleaning but don't lock the lid down. Carry it over to the tank, hook it back up, open the valves, raise the handle up (this locks it down) and it "primes" the filter.

Personally I love the 2217 ($120 at Big Al's online). The 2213 is tiny but may be good for a small planted tank with small fish and small bioload.
