Eheim Classic 2213 - URGENT

I came home to a good 2 inches of missing water today and discovered a significant drip leak coming from the intake of my Eheim Classic 2213 canister filter. The cabinet was flooded and some was spilled out onto the floor. The leak is coming from the intake into the canister filter (at the bottom of the canister), right where the hole is. I tried adjusting the charcoal colored piece that goes into the canister (it rotates) but that didn't help. I shut everything down and cleaned and reconnected everything, but still leaking.

Anyone experience a leak like this on the Eheim? THANK YOU!!! [/code]

I wish I had experience with the specific filter but hopefully I can help you fix it.

Aquarium safe silicone and good quality electrical tape is the best suggestion I have for a quick fix. Then I would be contacting the company and explaining what is going and hopefully getting a cheap replacement from them.

Also, you might be able to just replace the hose at a LFS but I wouldn't know for sure.

The silicone would be good all by itself if you can give it a full 24 hours to cure properly before running it.

if the filter is still in warranty then inform the place you purchased it from and get it replace with a new one. just swap over the current media into the new filter.
if it is out of warranty I suggest that you contact Eheim to see if they can help you as a good will gesture.

in the mean time PTFE tape (plumbers tape) would be better than electrical tape, but the silicon advise is sound

I owned a filter from eheim that always leaked, if you can, get a refund and them buy a different brand.

everyone I know in RL and myself as well all run eheim filters and we all love them like children. Im sure it will be an easy fix, if we can narrow down the culprit. Can you see exactly where the water is coming from? the intake to the main pump housing? the hose to the intake?

I absolutely love my Eheims, I'd take a bullet for them.

I own 4 2217, 2 2215, 2 2260, 1 2236, 8 1262 pumps.

Not once have I ever had a leak. Going on 15 years of using Eheim products and I prefer to use nothing else.

I'm not understanding your post at all. The specifics of the leak are hard to pinpoint. Are you implying that the leak is where the tubing connects tot eh pump head? This is a simple fix. Your locking nut may not have been tight enough and or your tubing was not put in square so now a corner is leaking. Are you implying that the large O-ring between the canister and pump head are leaking? Are you sure you have all the metal tabs locked over? Did you purge the valves when you installed the pump to the canister to relieve the pressure that builds up from forcing the pump on? Have you torn the rubber o-ring by accident?
