Eclipse trouble

I'm borrowing an octagonal 5.5-gallon Eclipse tank, and I'm having problems with it. The tank water is evaporating into the hood, condensing, and running down the filter cord and dripping onto the cabinet, floor, and surrounding area. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm normally a fan of Marineland equipment, but I have to say, this tank is terrible!

Is there any way to correct this? The design of the hood is such that the cord cannot be moved; there is only one outlet for it.

How much water are we talking about? You really shouldn't be getting that much evaporation that you're making a flood around the tank from it.

Not sure what the problem was, but it seems to have corrected itself. It wasn't a ton of water, just enough to be annoying. You're right, though; it was probably too much to be evaporation. I think the water was splashing off of the biowheel, hitting the top of the tank, and running down the cords. Thanks!

Unlikely.

Something I found out about the Eclipse tanks is that the filter needs to be tilted forwards ever so slightly. If it's tilted back then water can overflow the backside of the filter where it can run down the back of the tank. It happened to me, it might have happened with you.
