Do I need to wash the ceramic biomedia?

I have a freshwater Aquapod 12-gallon. I'm a total n00b to this, but nowhere in the instructions does it say to wash the ceramic biomedia in the filter. I have noticed that my water has become quite cloudy, and was wondering if that would have anything to do with not washing the ceramics (I've been replacing the carbon and washing the bioballs and using a gravel cleaner, etc.).

Seriously though, nowhere online does it say whether or not to wash the ceramic media. I would've washed it anyway, but it says that it's used for building up good bacteria, so I'm really lost on this.

hello there,
how long has your tank been set up for ?
if it's really new then it's probably a bacterial bloom,and will clear
with a little time,i wouldn't worry about washing them now,
leave them to colonise the bacteria for a few months,
then all that will be needed,is to give them a gental swish
in old tank water on water change day.

The tank is about 6 weeks old.

ahh you have a new tank,well don't worry it will clear,
keep the lights to only 8hours or a little less as well.
