Wiggling the baskets aren't doing anything. They will not budge!

where did you buy the filter from ?
if from a store,i would ask them about it,tell them about how much trouble
you're having, even if you bought it on line, someone must be able to sort
it out,it's a nightmare...i'd be really frustrated.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I bought it online, from an Ebay seller. It really does frustrate me.
I've tried a coupla things today. I removed the ceramic media and didn't snap the baskets together. Hopefully, next week they'll be easier to remove :P

why did you remove the ceramic rings, you'll lose bacteria ?
good move to not snap the baskets together

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I removed the ceramic media because I thought it maybe adding weight.
Today's water change was 2 days later than it should of been. So the tank will be fine until Monday(normal water change day) and I may re-add the ceramics.

It's also sitting in a cup of water so the BB should hold fine.

glad to hear this, there's is nothing worse than when things don't
work how we know they should.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
