Difficulty Removing Baskets from Canister

For the 1st coupla to a few weeks, I didn't have this issue.

But I think the suction is making it really difficult to remove my media baskets. So difficult that I cannot get them out without beating the crap out of my canister. 1st basket has nothing but sponges, 2nd has a small amount of ceramics and the 3rd has bio balls and a layer of sponge.

Any tips or solutions?

i have a couple that stick in the filter body. I "walk" them out. Basically I put my hands in the canister, backs facing each other, and I put outward and upward pressure on each side, alternating.

As for separating the baskets from one another.... what kind of filter is this?
willow likes this.

I can separate the baskets just fine. It's getting them OUT of the canister. And I can't really fit my hands between the body/baskets. It's a really snug fit.

no, not between the filter body and the basket - I press the basket against the filter body

what canister is it ?

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

This Monday will be water change day. So I'll attempt to play with it more. I don't think I tried wiggling it...though you'd think I would of.

Yeah, I find that the bottom basket can be very difficult to remove. The handle can come loose - I've found that applying force to specific areas will keep it in place - gotta play with it some. What I explained is how I get them out - sometimes in conjunction with using the handle, sometimes not.

The handle is the only thing i can use when removing them. unless i flip it upside down, which doesn't help much either.

Funny thing is I never had this issue the 1st 2-3 weeks it was running. I think the flow used to be more powerful as well.
