Cycling a Sponge Filter

I have just purchased a sponge filter for my quarantine tank I'm putting together. I went ahead and put the filter into my main tank and got it running.

How long before it has sufficient bacteria and can be moved to the quarantine tank? I'll be keeping some of my quickly growing guppy fry in the tank to keep everything cycled between QT or hospital uses.

Aquarium
I would probably leave it in there at least 2-3 weeks.

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)
55 Gallon - African tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - Empty

I'm running to the LFS tonight to pick up a batch of 10 or so feeder guppies that will be going into a completely uncycled 10g. The tank has been up with conditioned water and substrate, heating and lights for about a week. The big sponge filter has been running in another tank for about 4 weeks now, so I'm hoping I can transfer it over to the guppy tank right before I add the fish. I'll keep an eye on the tank and let you know how it goes.

Thanks. There's no huge rush on this since my next batch of fish isn't planned for another four to five weeks. It was likely going to be left in place for two weeks minimum anyways. I've also got a load of biomax ceramic rings sitting in one of the media baskets of my Penguin 300 since day 1 that I was going to add to the QT tank as well to help it along.
