I dont know the SunSun filter. Not that regularly available here. I've been using Cascade (1000 and 1200) for a few years now and it is really user friendly and very efficient ito water clarity. The only negative aspect of Cascade 700 is that it only have two cartridges. The Cascade 1000 might sound like an overkill, but you will never have to worry about water clarity again even when you upgrade. It houses 3 catridges that is more than sufficient for all your filtermedia requirements. And Cascade spares and replacement cartridges is readily available here.

I've searched the Sunsun filter and it really sounds like a great filter based on the specifications. I can however not comment on it as I've never even seen one in real life. Does your LFS have spares and replacement cartridges for the Sunsun? That should be your first consedartion.

its a toss up! i might go with the cascade. it looks a lil nicer. same kind of tray set up. i like that you can add other stuff to the trays. i know local stores sell the filter media for the cascade but not the sunsun. both you can get build filter stuff an make your own for cheaper. but i like the size of the cascade. only thing i dont get is that it says 265gph for up to 100g tank isnt that flow rate a little low? even for a 50 gallon. or is it cuz the filter media has more surface area that the rate doesnt need to be 10x the size of the tnk? i know the sunsun says it flows at 525gph but everythiung ive read says it flows about 265gph aslo.
