Which Canister Filter Are You Using?

There are a lot of canister filters out there and I could use your reviews. I was wondering which canister filter everyone is using? The advice I have received so far is to buy an Eheim Classic Plus Filter. Has anyone used this filter? And would the Eheim 2215 Filter Classic Plus (up to 93gal) work for my 55gal planted tank? Or should I get the 2213 that is rated up to 55gal?

2213. I currently use it on my 55g planted tank as well. Awesome filter and completely quiet. The job of a filter, especially in a planted tank, is mainly to use as water circulation and to get rid of larger particles. The plants do the job of keeping ammonia, nitrites and nitrates under control. My vote is to save the money on the higher model and get the Eheim 2213. It is plenty of filtration.

I use the 2217 on my planted 55. Someone on this site had the 2215 and it kept clogging up. That's why I went with the 2217. Some fish really love the current this filter provides. If I were to do it again I'd probably go with the 2215. But I do understand a few people here use the 2213 on a 55gal tank. Any of the three (2213,2215 or 2217) would work fine for a planted tank.

I use a Marineland 350 Magnum, it's quite and gets the job done quite well on my 55G. I also debated between the Rena XP3 as well as the eheim series, I saw a great deal on the Marineland and jumped on it. Havent regretted it for a minute!

Fluval 305 right now. I had two 405s on my 180 a few years back too. Haven't tried any others because I've been really happy with the Fluvals.

eheim 2215 on my 47g planted. very happy with it, through i reckon a 2213 would be fine. through my own stupidity i broke the inlet part where the water enters the canister the day i got it and was able to get a replacement part very easily online and replace it myself

ehiem ecco 2236 here. I wish I had the money for a bigger canister filter for my 110g so i could put the 2236 on my planted 55. I suspect it would about be perfect, and I love the filter. easy to service, quiet, quick and easy set up.
