Can anyone recommend a customisable filter?

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong category, I assumed because I'm not asking for a betta this would be the place?
My apologies if I'm wrong.

Anyway:
As of right now I'm using a fluval U2 in a 64ltr tank.
Although it does a great job keeping my tank filtered and pumps in extra oxygen, it's not very customisable which for me just won't do as I want to use peat pellets to keep my water hardness and PH down without using chemicals and the fluval U2 just doesn't have the space for these lovely pellets without removing the bio stones (its bio stones or peat, I chose bio stones).

This tank is for my german blue rams, I need to keep the little guys happy with their recommended water conditions so I wondered if anyone could recommend to me a more customisable filter? :)
Internal or external I don't mind, as long as I can get the peat pellets in there somewhere.

Any suggestions or recommendations will be greatly appreciated <3
Also it's only going to be their home for a few months then they're going into a 120ltr tank so if there's a filter that'd do both 64-120ltr then that's even better!

I've been on ebay all night and I'm totally confused which would be suitable so I thought I'd come here and see if anyone's had any experience with a good customisable filter.

Thanks :)

Hagen's AquaClear HOB filters allow you to use media configuration and type of your choice. Also any nearly canister would do what your looking for.
