Bubble wall, bubble wand?

I have finally learned to not listen to my lfs and instead ask questions on this forum when I don't know the answer.

I kept my water level lower than normal in my 40 gallon tall tank (didn't know it was low until someone pointed it out) Since adding more water to the tank the flow of the filter is a lot less than it was, I barely have a currant and I was told I should buy a bubble wand, I wasn't able to find a bubble wand so instead I bought a bubble wall, put it in the tank about an hour ago and I think it looks very tacky (no offense to anyone) I have a penguin biowheel 200 filter, I also have bamboo shrimp who need a currant to feed in and I am not sure if I need extra oxygen for the tank or if I need the bubble wall at all.

Can anyone suggest an alternative to a bubble wall?

Thanks.

Forgot to add I have three live plants, all pretty small in size.

hi
is it not possible to move the filter outlet to an angle that would make
more water movement ?
if not how about one or two of these depending on what air pump you have, you can hide them at the side of the tank,so the bubbles are not seen as much.

and this is very important

it's a non return valve, every one with an air pump should have these.

I am not sure if I can angle the filter, I have never tried.

I will look into the stuff you posted, I have never seen any of them an had no idea about them. Thanks.

The water flow from your filter has not changed, it's just not as noiceable. A 150gph filter will filter 150gph whether in 8" of water or 18".

Thanks. My real concern is are the fish getting enough oxygen and is their a big enough currant for my bamboo shrimp, which it doesn't seem like it.

i have a 6 inch bubble wall (the wierd green material) and it helps move the water around a bit. i will agree with ya that it does look tacky, everyone who looks at my tank says to just stick with the classic air stones.

one of the department stores i go to has a black bubble wand (the flexible kind) for a few bux, iam thinking of getting it for my 29 gallon

Very nice, I can't even tell that you have anything bubbling.

I put a bubblewand in my bettas 2 1/2 gal. I hold it on the bottom with suction cups and cover it over with the gravel. Keeps it out of sight and the bubbles appear to be coming out of the gravel from nowhere. LOL
