so im just a little curious to what are some of the biggest (Private) setups that any of you have seen? i know this is kind of off topic but i am just curious to see a nice nice NICE setup. try to keep it freshwater plzz. pics are always best too!!
Wow, could u imagine if you had that big of a tank and then decided to keep smaller fish that can normally be kept i 20 gallon aquariums? You could have massive schools of tetras, barbs, etc. imagine the colors....

That is my next plan. I hope the fish in my 210 will live long and healthy lives, but I think it would be awesome with schools of different small fish.
Hey twistersmom...gotta talk my hubby into the tank stuff as well, I feel for you! We went on a rock collecting expedition a few weeks ago and my daughter had a ball. Yesterday my husband notice neat looking rock on the ground. He picked it up and said it would look nice in my tank. Guess he's getting into the spirt of things.
As far as "inspiration" goes (and I'm not in any way saying or thinking that I could do this), but I love ADG's aquariums. Aquarium Design Group
Ya know, I've never been that impressed with the 50,000 gallon tank. It's impressive for its sheer volume, don't get me wrong. It just never seemed all that engrossing to me. The tank seems rather empty and bare. The fish are impressive but I prefer more natural or at least detailed environments.
I think the most impressive thing about the tank is the fact that with 50,000 gallons, you can stock almost anything you want. However, in this tank, i am not too impressed with the decoration or lighting. Does anyone know if there's a tank out there that's similar to this one but uses natural light? Like a kinda half pond, half inside your basement sorta deal?
I have seen set ups sort of like that. One that I was shown but never found a link to is a large, well huge, reef tank that was built as part of a dividing wall between a pool and a basement rec room.
Ya know, I've had day dreams about something like that. A truly massive tank that I'd be forced to build a house around. Still, I think my day dream tank was only like 25,000 gallons with 12,000 gallon sump.
If you guys hit the lottery what would be your dream set up?
mine would take a giant cylindrical tank about 15 feet around and spiral my staircase around it to the upstairs and of course it would be a reef
ive also had ideas of opening up my own restaraunt someday with like a curevd wall and bar style seating. but instead of people looking at a wall have about a 5ft high tank that spans the entire length of the wall. idk just a idea
OMG me too, i've had this idea of opening a bar with a waterfall cascading down parts of the front into a sump or sumthin and fish in the tank behind it. There would be aglass shelf in front to display the bottles and lights underneath the glass shelf shining striaght up. The display would have bottles in front the parts of the parts witht ehw aterfall the the other areas would be clear so patrons could see the fish. The shelfs and waterfall widths would probably by roughly 3 feet wide and the parts where you can see the tank would be around 4 feet wide.
dude thats crazy lol, i would for sure go to a bar like that!!!! someday when i do hit the lottery though ill hit you up so we can build something crazy lol
