The fishtank finished the nitrogen cycle and is crystal clear. It's the clearest I have ever seen it. Thanks to you all for the advise.

I have Rena filstars on all my tanks. (This makes swapping around filters, if needed, easy as many of the parts are interchangeable. I just went through a bout of leaking with the XP2, but that is fixed now.
Like Christople said, I can barely hear them running. I do not know if there is such a thing as over filtration but, the more baskets (the number of the filstar correlates to the number of individual media baskets) the more flexibility you have to modify the filter media to suit your individual needs.

Wink non name brand canister filter on ebay!!! help me!!

hello everyone i have a 55 gallon tank that is currently empty but i want to put African cichlids in it and i was told that since its gonna be a bit crowded i should over filter with like 800+gph so i was originally thinking 2 marineland emperor 400s but now i am thinking just one marineland emperor400 and a canister filter.. cause i hear that they tend to do the best job... yaknow...
well i was just looking on ebay cause i love a good deal... and i found some no name canister filters 5 stages for like 85 bucks and a Max Flow Rate: 520 GP.... i am not really sure what the best combos would be..any suggestions?

You'll probably get a little better response if you re-post this as a new thread! One factor you may also want to consider is the noise level of various filters.
