When I used my test strips everything was ok for a while then my nitrates showed to be 80ppm or higher. I was doing water changes for 3 weeks, 3x a week trying to get them back down and I finally got tired of it. Toook my water to the LFS, did a test right in front of them and they did an API liquid test. My dip test showed 120ppm nitrates, the API showed 20. Same with phosphates and pH. Both were off and almost imossible to test right with the strips. I did get better readings when I cut the strips into seperate sections but they still read 50-200% higher. HERE
is the one that was recommended the most when I was asking. I also think that the Red Sea phosphate test is the more accurate or poosibly the easier to read to get more accurate results but I don't see why it owuld be needed.
I currently use API and have been ver happy with it except for the GH test because I can't hardly see the color change and never could really, my wife usually does the seeing on that one.
