I have a 75G tank that is relatively new. I am looking for a lighting fixture/device to put over the tank and I don't know what kind to get or where to purchase it (online). The tank is currently covered by a canopy like this one: http://www.aquariumguys.com/glasscanopy1.html. It's not exactly that one as the one I purchased was from Petco, but its very similar (and fits the tank). The tank is 48 inches long, about 16-18 inches from front to back, and has a 2 inch strip on top of the tank in the center. On one side is a canister filter that takes up the entire wall on that side (so I don't think a 48 inch light would really fit). The tank is about 18-20 inches deep as well.

Thanks-I am not sure if this belongs in DIY so I thought I would post it here first.

My budget is somewhere between 50 and 100 dollars.

Try drsfostersmith.com for a single perfecto light fixture, or try craigslist or ebay in your local area to find one used since you have a limit you may find one there pretty reasonable. Third option would be a local hardware store like Home depot, Lowes or something similair to that and get a shop light to put over your canopy. One last thing you mention you have a canister filter that takes up the whole wall. These canister filter go underneath the aquarium not to sure if you meant that it was on top since you could not possibly get a 48" strip light it would be best if you kept this filter under the aquarium. Then your light can go all the way across the top. You don't really want to have one side shaded do you?

thats where all mine are for just that reason :) I put my power filters along the back wall, most aquarium strip lights fit on the back panel of the glass canopy. The one I home made out of plastic rain gutter fits on that panel as well on my 20L.
