I have three fluvals..

An FX5, 405, and 403..

Two of which are not under the tank but beside the base of the tank... (They don't fit in the cabinet, so I set them to the side)..

I can't hear any of them.

Sometimes the 403 makes noise if it gets to much air in it.. but the FX5 lets all the air out once a day for 2 minutes... It's a great filter.. And would work wonders on your tank!! I'd suggest that one.
