azoo oxgen plus foam filters

I just ordered me two azoo oxygen plus foam filters an oxygen plus 9 and oxygen plus 11, one for one of my 10g betta tanks, the other for my 20L female betta sorority / blue ram tank.

I have never used anything of this sort before, just wondering if there is anything else I need to make them work and anything else I need to know about using them. I stopped today at my LFS to buy some cories, but also nabbed a 2 way air gang valve, and some silicone air tubing, i have a nice high capacity air pump with check valve...

missing anything?

The Azoo is a knock-off of the Hydro Sponge, probably has similar pros and cons. I've found that the Hyrdo Sponges work very well as long as you don't have fish which like to eat the sponge (like plecos).
What little maintenance is required is very easy and inexpensive.

Depending on how large your tank is, and how many plants or other obstructions you have, your Azoo may or may not need some help circulating water to avoid dead spots. In both my 55 and 75 gallon tanks, I have a long airstone laying in the substrate near the back wall, which creates a rising curtain of bubbles, and makes the water in the tank roll over slowly.

8) 30 gallon w/ Diamond Tetras and White Clouds, EcoComplete w/ Anubias and Cabomba, Eheim 2213 and 18 watts of lighting.

8) 55 gallon w/ Senegal Bichir and large Pleco, EcoComplete w/ Anubias, Eheim 2213, and 30 watts of lighting.

8) 75 gallon w/ Cardinal, Serpae and Black Skirt tetras, cories, danios, Pearl gouramis and yoyo loaches, EcoComplete heavily planted with Anubias, Eheim 2215, and 30 watts of lighting.

does the discharge from the filter just go into the tank? i was reading a post from holly about using lift tubes on hers, is that necessary at all?

I use lift tubes on mine, a taller lift tube gives a better flow through the sponge. My lift tubes are roughly 8 inches tall.

You can make them any length you want, just keep the top of the tube below the surface of the water.

ooo good info. ill pick some up next time im at the LFS. I wound up not using the little one on the 10g, just ran the air pump directly into the 3i filter. one less thing running to make noise... for a single betta i think the 3i in a 10g will be just fine.. ill save the 10 gallon sponge, god only knows what ill use it for lol

thanks dude.
