Tank size matters not. The question is which filter do you think is best.
I like the Emperor. They were the first with the bio wheels, along with Marineland(who manufactures Emperor). They are the innovators and the power filter all others use as comparison. I really like the Emperor 400. The Emperor 280 is a great "little brother".
The Emperor is a very good filter. I had it when I got my 30G tank, and it worked very well. But, do to noise (something got messed up, and it is in my bedroom), I had to switch it to a Penguin 150. But, I love the penguin. As Herefishy said, the Biowheel helps a lot.
But, I do also like the Aquaclear. I wouldn't go anything smaller than an AC70 on your tank though. I have been FW testing my AC110 (the biggest) for a few days now, and it works very well. The noise is all right; I read that you can change the impeller if it gets too loud, but you might not have to worry about the noise.
Aqueon submersible heaters are the best buy on the market. They compare favorably to the Ebo Jaeger line in quality at a fraction of the cost. We also have access, via another member's husband, to tech support at Aqueon.
Submersibles also are easy to hide and place in the aquarium. You are able to place them in the water flow for more even heating.
IMO the 280 and the 400 are great they both use the same filter and bio wheels ( so if you are like most people here when you get many tank syndrome you dont need to buy lots of different types of filters )
