Do these powerheads have any prefilter sponges?
Can you get any sponges that will fit over the intake?

Anyone done this?

I have two AquaClears - a 20 and a 70. What are you trying to do exactly??

use the powerhead as a prefilter with a sponge over the intake so it collects debris, i will have the powerhead running my under gravel jets.

I use an Elite replacement sponge that is easy to slide over the intake of the an Aquaclear filter. I leave the sponge inside the filter, but I fill the remainder of the filter with Seachem's Matrix. The Elite sponge will filter your water well and act as a sponge filter; so good biological action with the sponge on the intake, the sponge in the filter and with the Matrix media. The Elite sponge does not restrict flow.

Here is a link to the sponge filter. I did not purchase this filter, just the replacement sponges for it. I paid $8 for two of the sponges, I used the second sponge on my Eheim intake tube.
