I use these test kit and if your test is clear thats perfect (No ammonia)

yellow indicates ammonia!

Do you have the right test card

I am presuming you have a freshwater ammonia test card not the saltwater one??

With any test I've used, clear = no amonia. If there is no amonia, ow whatever you're testeing for, then there's nothing for the test to react with, so it's just water and doesn't show any colour.

Hmm, I haven't seen that before.

Personally, if there is no colour, to me that indicates no reading and I would be happy.

well i followed the instructions perfectly the nitrite nitrate and ammonia didnt do anything but the ph shot up to 7.8 so i know the tests work and everthings in the best of heath so its best to assume the cards a little off

A zero ammonia reading should be yellow, as on the card below:

That's strange. Even with a zero reading the test should turn yellow.

From memory, I think it's eight drops from each bottle, shake for five seconds and then wait five mins for a reading? Is that definitely what you're doing?
