Another Filter Question
I'm planning on getting a new filter that would hang on the wall of the tank instead of a ground filter I had. The ground filter had a plastic board covering the bottom of the tank which the filter mounted too. Now would it be fine to just get rid of that and have the gravel lying on the bottom of the tank directly on the glass?

Yes it is. In fact you'll be happier with your Hang on Back (HoB) filter than you were with your Undergravel Filter (UGF). It's easier to maintain and will help keep your water cleaner. Personally I recommend the Penguin or Emperor line of filters from Marineland.
