Normal incandescent hoods??? Our petsmart has them in all shapes, sizes & colors....Even my little bitty LFS has then (and that means a LOT cause they have next to NO supplies period)

iamntbatman, thanks for reminding me of that thread, I've thought of doing something like that but I couldn't remember where I had seen that thread before.

Angel, nice shrimp tank, well planted and I like your wood. I've been looking a lumens and trying to find the lowest watt bulb with the highest lumens.

CFL's are going to be the top contenders for lumens vs. wattage. T5's would likely come in second place, followed by T8's, T12's and incandescents.

Of course, I'm leaving out stuff like LED's and metal halides. Someday, hopefully soon, we'll get full LED strip lights that give tons of light for virtually no wattage at reasonable prices.

RSN I'd just either write down what size you need for your hood or take a existing bulb to the stores and see what you find; I donno what you have available in Canada at your're Lowes, Homedepots and Walmarts...GE & Bright effects work best for me (Salvina is good too, I just can't find them locally)
