acrylic tank background paint removal?

I have a large acrylic tank that has the blue rubber like paint on both short ends as it used to be in a wall. I would like to remove it from one end and use it on a peninsula. any ideas?

This is a shot in the dark but, maybe try a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to see if it will peel off.
