Lost One of My Congos

I came home tonight and found my biggest, oldest male Congo floating in the tank. I notices earlier in the week that he seemed to be breathing faster than normal. But he was still active and eating. Needless to say I was bummed. It did give me a chance to actually measure him. He was a full 4".
R.I.P. Congo tetra.

Mmmmm....possibly. He was an adult when I bought him and I've had him for a little over 2 years. I believe their lifespan is only about 5 years. But the fast breathing is what bothers me. I don't know if it was maybe because he was getting ready to go or if it was caused by something else and may have weakened him.

I'm so sorry about your fish. He certainly was full grown wasn't he? That's a pretty impressive size.

RIP tetra

4"? That's a nice sized Congo. What a bummer. I'm sorry. I know how exactly you feel.
