I have two Yellow White cloud minnows that look pregnant. I did not intentionally cause them to breed but since it happened I would like to try to make it work. It is coming up on the six week mark. I have a little isolation net with some fake soft plants. I am not sure if I should put just the pregnant females in there or males in there as well because I don't know if the eggs get fertilized before or after they are laid. Also there are only 2 male white cloud minnows and nether one is yellow. What color do you think the new clouds will be?
there are also black tetras in there but they will be moving soon to another tank, unfortunately not before the white clouds lay the eggs. oh yeah there are some snails too, one is quite large, 3/4 inch.[/list]

White clouds are egg scatterers. A tank with Java moss is guaranteed to make a good future rearing tank for the fry. You place the adults there and let them spawn. These are quite easy to spawn and will ignore the eggs compared to the danios.
I don't know, maybe the eggs are smaller than I imagine. The holes in the net are very small, I kinda thought the point of a breeding net was to keep the eggs/fry inside and all the other fish outside. I cant get another tank, its not that I cant afford one or I'm too cheep. Simply put, I am pretty sure my wife would kill me if I bought another one.

first of all, egg-layers/scatterers do not become pregnant, they become gravid, full of eggs. Do not use a breeding net. Although the white cloud is not known as an aggressive egg eater, why tempt fate? Lupin gave the best means of providing a good spawning environment by suggesting the use of java moss.
