theres 5M/1F gouramis in my 50g bowfront tank. Things have been quite calm for around 9 months, but suddenly the entire surface is covered in fish spit YUCK . I quickly removed it and the males started working together building more and more. Now heres the question there are no two fish alike , will they fertelize a different egg than thier own kind ? I do not want these ones to breed and i cannot understand how the nests stayed together, due to the swirling surfsce water. Ihave alot of current i even turn the filter off to feed them.Oh, remember i had an ich outbreak and since i have raised and maintained the temp to77. Ph 6.8 .

In all probability they will. Most gouramis are just color morphs of the same species, so they are all basically the same. there's no reason why the shouldn't breed. However, some people tend not to breed different types of fish together as it negates all the hard work fish suppliers do keeping them purebred.

And by 5M/1F you mean 5 males & 1 female? If so, i'm surprised ur female even survived with all that attention.

But like i said shes the biggest one &oddly enough i have no trouble as of yet 9+months. I agree with the no inbreeding policy, why i wouldn't have a mixed dog .
