We got one of those floating fry catchers where you put the mother fish in and the fry drop through the slits in the bottom into a lower chamber. It works as for the fry dropping but the thing is the other fish in the tank try to eat the fry cause they can see them through the clear plastic witch scares the fry back up to the top where the mother is and then she eats them.I guess next time i will try turning off the lights and see if that helps keep them from spooking the fry back to the top only to become a snack for mom..out of 6 fry she had only 1 survived..
ive been lucky with breeding in that none of the mothers have shown any interest in eating their fry, i use the larger net breeder, tho i place a piece of plastic in the bottom now so that the other fish cant suck at the fry through the net and kill them.
nobody seems to recomend the use of fry catchers i use mine to feed live bloodworm they slowy crawl out of the slits in the bottom,to there doom
