Let me preface this by first saying; I am not trying to breed fish right now, and do not have a proper breeding tank set up.
That being said, while doing a water change this morning, two of my harlequinn rasboras began spawning like crazy! i had to leave them be to go to work, but when i got home there were teeny tiny eggs all over the place. I am guessing they didn't or couldn't adhere to the plastic plants- and thus became free floating....i went to dinner, came home and there are only a few eggs left, floating around the tank. it looks as though my cherry barb has eaten a lot of them (the other tank mates probably gorged themselves as well).
should ANY survive and hatch- is there anything i can do to keep them?
also- it was a black harlequinn and a regular harlequinn- not the same kind...does that matter?
i have heard that harlequinns are difficult to breed. all i did was add a peat insert in my tank, and fed them some brine shrimp. the water change seemed to kick off the 'love fest' though... just in case anyone was interested in how it happened.
