Ugh, I WISH I could get you guys photos and video! =(

I've actually moved on to some other plans at this point. I love my mollies, really I do...but they have a high bioload and I always seem to have issues with them more than any other fish. I've decided to go back to my original set up: Platies. Oh, and my Endlers for my two small tanks as well as three-four swordtails. I will probably keep the sisters I raised(the two mollies from my first gold dust molly that had kids) and two or three of their female babies though, I really don't think I can part with them. ^^;
I've moved a couple of the juveniles I wish to keep so I don't have to fight with them when I start catching the others to sell them....which will be soon. Soon as our week of subzero temperatures is over. lol I don't even want to think about taking a bunch of bags of fish out, even for a half hour ride in a heated car, in -31F weather, absolutely not. Heat in the car does nothing when you get out of it in THOSE temps.

Anywho...babies everywhere again. Unfortunately the two moms that gave birth before died soon after, and my red lyretail guppy did die and was in fact in the vase, and then a third female gave birth and died, and then! THEN! One of the two pretty black bar males I raised died as well...which was actually my bad, I was cleaning out the moss with the small vacuum and he was in there and didn't move out when I poked it before vacuuming and he was fine when he got out...and then he wasn't fine and died. =( Bad week, bad. I blame most of my issues on the cold. I don't have a heater for that room where I'm having all the issues, so I just cover the tank and leave the doors open so a bit of the houses heat gets in. My window actually froze and hasn't unfrozen in several days, there is ice across the whole thing and also about two feet across the wall on either side, so yeah. Been cold. The temp in the tank went down to 71 overnight and then heated up to 79 in just a few hours, so I think that hurt everyone. I've moved the tank as far from the airy spots as I can and aim the heater to the hall so it comes in, that kept it from being so big, but even with the heater and their own tank heaters, my tanks are not staying where they should and all go down at least four degrees each night.

Anyone have ideas on keeping them from getting cold like that? I mean I have the heater, I cover the tanks, all tanks are on the opposite sides of the room from windows...what else can I really do? We rarely hit these negative temps here, maybe a couple times per year but I haven't been alive for any like THIS(we've had a week in the negatives, we hit -31F a few times and the nightly temp most common has been no more than -10F for a week).

Ah yes. I so wish I could get up video or photos. I have some amazing babies. Platies and mollies both, and Oscar is so cute. I ended up with some speckled blue MM platies that are neat...but my stunner is the blue platy that came out with some rather brilliant blue coloring and pitch black fins. He's like a blue-wag platy. In fact, those do exist(just googled it)! He looks like this one, except he's not quite THAT brilliant, but he's much brighter than his rather dull parents were. http://www.aquariumfish.net/images_0...13b3_w0480.jpg
I also have a male white calico who is really interesting, he's got a nice black flame on his tail and lovely bright colors...but the one I am most in love with(aside from my blue-wag) is one of those "Odd colored" ones. Remember the kids I couldn't figure out what color they were(orange or gold)? I think they're still in between yellow and orange, really neon like bright(it's like the color of the common orange goldfish but it has some yellow in it). lol But a couple came out with the calico spots, one is just gorgeous.
I'll need some new blood once everything is complete though. I may actually find a way to part with my girls(the mollies), though I am determined to keep at least three or four of my swordtails as well...thus far I don't think the male has tried to breed with my platies and hopefully wont...but yeah, since I've bred and raised all of these kids and honestly have no idea who had whose parents anymore aside from the blue platy and calico platy...I can probably guess mostly accurately, I'll probably get some more adults to add to the gene pool just in case. So far I've only got six in mind to keep, so I'll definitely have room for more. I want white ones again as well...I miss my white platies. Oddly enough I haven't seen any white platies in about two years now. o-o; I've seen a lot of swordtail variatus that were white, not interested in those though...they always look a bit sickly and are crossbreeds that someone didn't really pay attention to. Or so it seems, poor things. =( Which reminds me, I did actually find a few reddish platies and some golds that looked to have longer tails and different body shapes than normal platies(their tails are about half an inch longer than platy tails usually are and their not as square as platies are supposed to be), I wonder if their crossed. Uh-oh, maybe Big Red did do some crossing of the seas. ^^; Well, they came out nice and healthy and as I've said on many occasions...I don't mind so long as they're healthy. They're all about an inch long or more now and none have had any problems. I'll have to be sure I tell anyone they go to what they are or might be though.

Well, when I actually sell off the bulk of my kids to good homes, I'll let you guys know how the new upgrades and downgrades go. I really hate to do it, but mollies are so dirty and take up more of the space because of it, and I'm over-stocked anyways...and, well, I just seem to do better with platies. In the last couple years I've lost...uh, maybe 3-5 platies compared to about thirty mollies. >_>; So yeah, stick to what you're good at, and there will probably be a lot less babies though certainly some. And you guys can give me ideas on platies to breed. I already love breeding calicos with others, they either come out different colored versions of the calicos, perfect and beautiful, or speckled on a solid color(like three of my blue platies, came out all blue with mickey mouse tails or black tails with speckles all over their bodies...which isn't the most beautiful thing really, but they are cool). I like that! I'm going to see about some nice calico colors. Eh...I've already been beaten to it, but I do like the variety and that they usually come out looking good. I'd also like to get hi-fins, but it's nigh impossible to get healthy ones here. They are rarely in the shops as is, and when they are...they usually looks like they have ich or some really nasty fungal or parasitic infection, which the ONE hi-fin I got before died from as well...but not before she gave it to everyone else in the tank, BAH. =(

Seems someone else has gotten the odd speckled blue platy before too...but mine looks better. LOL http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MjE0WDMwMA==/$(KGrHqYOKo8E7EF)YGVnBRe+tqot,Q~~48_35.JPG

Actually yes, I'm just finishing breakfast. lol

Kidding. Sorry about the book, my comp crashed before I could add the rest, but eh! At least it saved the other stuff.

I'm working with it. ;D I think I've gotten rid of the nasty skinny disease(I think I've said this three or four times now, knock on wood for me so I don't jinx it!), we had going on(I got melafix and added that in for my guppies, who all had shredded tails and one looked like it had fin rot so I did extra cleaning and added melafix and a little salt, cleared that up and the last fish to die of the skinny was QT'd elsewhere...it seemed to pass when one died in the tank, it just hit one or two at a time and NOTHING worked, aside from salt seemed to have slowed it down). Otherwise I'm stuck STILL since I obviously don't want anyone else's tank infected. Been a sucky year, worse than the last, but we're working through it.

Sooo, haven't updated about my newest tank in a bit. I currently have two guppies, both juvenile males and not full grown yet, and one male black bar endlers, also a juvenile, but I think he's full grown or close.

Anywho, I have a bunch of babies in there, small enough to be eaten, but I gave up trying to catch them all after several days of trying. ^^; They're mostly let alone, sometimes one of the boys will chase half-heartedly. lol So funny story, one of the babies LOVES my black bar male, just constantly hangs out with him even though he's small enough to be killed by him. And occasionally he tries to. He's too small to eat the babies, but that doesn't stop him from trying to kill them. So this baby...sticks to him like glue and flees when the male turns to run him off, but after he ran him off a few minutes ago, the baby came back, hung out...BIT the adult and then fled when he was chased. And then he repeated this action three more times. I was in stitches, it reminded me of my dog and my mothers little brat dog. lol

Ah yes, I also got loaches again. Ouhhh, I couldn't resist. >>; They're baby black kuhli loaches, only about an inch and a half long. I got five of them. I currently have them in my near empty ten gallon. By the time they're full grown I'll have added sand to my twenty gallon and they can stay there. For now the...overly planted ten is fine for them(I am pretty sure I over-planted, but I wanted it to be good for the fish and safe for babies to boot, it's quite lovely, if a bit...a lot random), they have hiding, sand, food, and nobody to pick at them while they're small. I tried to get all the little males, but I think I got some girls. x.x Well, if they breed again, I at least know what to look for. :3

Ren went with me, she finally fits in the harness, mostly. The part for her neck fits, the rest not so much. But for her first time on harness and leash, she was very good! Unlike Cooper, who goes out with me a lot, she actually walks with me. A bit here and there, but she stays with me, I usually have to kinda pull Cooper along. lol She found the automatic door and started playing with it, she'd go over and it'd open, she'd run back and then try it again, turned it into a funny game.

I gave away about two dozen baby swordtails today, made room for the rest to grow. I was going to take a group of platies and gold dust mollies to be sold at our LFS that buys, but we had a school shooting in the area and the roads were blocked off. Obviously that's more important, so I just kept the kids with me and took the fry to another store.

So my mom walked up to me before she left today and said "What do you want for Christmas?" And I said, jokingly(though I do want one), "A 100 gallon tank." She looks up in thought and said "Ok, can you get it into the basement if I got you one?" Of course my jaw kinda dropped thinking I'd never be gifted any such thing and said "Of course! It'd take two or three people to carry it down there, but it'll fit through the doors." O_____O!!!

HEY! Here's to hoping, right? lol That'd be nice, but I doubt she'll get me one. I could either move all my livebearers over there instead of downing my stock, or I could down my stock and keep them in the 55 and use the new tank for something different...like an Oscar or a couple fancy goldfish, or maybe a pair of Dinosaur Bichirs if they'll fit and be happy...or a few dozen other possibilities. lol

I showed her a 75 gallon tank I found for $100 and she refuses to give me a no or anything more than "We'll see" so she's either evil and getting my hopes up, or I can have a valid hope for a larger tank. A 75 isn't a 100...but it'll be a happier home for Oscar, my Pleco, than my 55 would be. And I wont have to find him a new home if it doesn't work out, which I'm positive it wouldn't in a 55(a lady at the pet shop agreed with me and said the minimum is a BARE minimum for them to survive, not be happy and agreed it should be said to people looking to buy fish). If I get the 75 I may move all my adult fish to it and keep the kids in the 55 to grow. Or I may in fact downsize and start a whole new tank...kinda considering doing a barb or tetra tank. I've always wanted cherry barbs for one thing. lol Or thinking I'll use the 55 once the babies are big enough to be with the other adults and just moving the swordtails and platies to the larger tank and keeping mollies and maybe the guppies in the 55. I think the water stats will be better suited to the fish who need the tanks that way(you know, mollies like salt and plecos don't lol). :3

Speaking of Oscar, his fins have all grown back(I think I've actually said this a few times now...but they just keep growing, I thought he was done), his tail is looking better. One of his back pectoral fins still looks a bit off, and I don't think his tail has completed yet, but he is looking pretty good and he's got a neat color(dark green and lighter green here and there with white stripes on his back). And he's getting fat...I do not know how much to feed him at this size and have obviously failed to give him a proper amount. o-o; He eats everything I put in for him, usually just a quarter piece of an algae wafer, a pinch of fish flakes, a few glassworms or greens out of Emerald Entree, or a few brine shrimp, or a quarter piece of cucumber every evening. He also has algae in the tank and on the breeder nets to feed on himself, but I'm not positive how much he actually gets from that. Food's always gone in the morning, save for cucumber which he doesn't seem to like much, it's obvious he nibbles on it and that's it. He looks nice and happy even if he is a bit chubby(I would not call him obese or anything close, but he does have a bit of girth to him), and is definitely male with those "Glasses" of his(you know the bumps in front of their eyes...they look like little glasses to me). I just love this fish. X) Fell completely in love with him.

I'll also be moving to the basement if I get the larger tank, I don't think our top floor can handle anymore. >>; I may leave the other tanks up stairs though, too much of a pain in the butt to move them, though I MIGHT if I fully cycle the bigger tank and move the fish, that'll make it easier to drain most of the water in the other tanks and save the filters...less stress all around, but still a sucky job! Who wants to carry a 10, 20 and 55 gallon tank down two flights of stairs?! Not to mention their stands...

That listing vanished the day after I showed it to my mom. I'm hoping to the point of not sleeping that she really did get me that 75 gallon tank. LOL I mean I'll likely have to buy a couple filters for it and a heater, and probably substrate...but hey. That I can do over time as it cycles. I don't know if it came with everything, I think it did. So it's still a bit more money spent...but I was looking up a full setup 75 gallon all over, and the cheapest ones I found were still over six hundred dollars. GEEZ! How's a person supposed to get what they want if they're not rich these days or spend years saving up? =( The chances of that are very, very slim though. But if I get it, I would be so happy. I could move my adult fish to that tank, them move the kids to the 55 gallon, and then move my platies to the 20 gallon and give both tens to my endlers and guppies. :3 Oh, how happy I would be with a bigger tank, but unfortunately the chances are about the same as a snowballs is in a volcano.

Anyone got a 75-100+ gallon tank they're willing to part with for free? Fat chance, eh?! xD
