Ah yes, almost forgot. I also got a female gold gourami and a male blue gourami. When I saw they had females for once, first females I've seen, I couldn't resist. All the gold ones were girls though, and it's just as well, the blues and golds are the same species if they DO breed, but the golds were probably all siblings and I don't want interbreeding. They're quite pretty...and quite big. lol I think they're about a year old at least, my last one was a youngster. ^^;

Oh my god, one of my ferrets fell down the A/C/Heater vent from the top floor and fell all the way to the basement two floors down. Thankfully not a straight drop, more like a slide...We couldn't figure out how to get her out(Ren fell), we could hear her, and Cooper would NOT leave the vent she fell down. x.x I went to get him, he was sitting by it looking from me to the vent, and held onto the carpet when I picked him up. He's the one who likes vents, I blame him...but then it was my bad I took the bent vent out and forgot last night when it was blistering hot, then let them go in there today so the kids would let them be. Never have I felt so stupid in my life, it made me sick. I almost threw up when I heard one in there scratching around.

Thankfully, grandpa got one of the pipes open where it came apart, pulled her out. She was black, looked like she rolled in a chimney and was terrified out of her mind puffed up and shaking, but was otherwise unhurt. I washed her and gave her to Cooper, who will not leave her alone. He was so worried. ^^; Grandpa said "Hey, you, hold still. You know I just saved your life, doncha?" lol Ahh, all's well that ends well. I can't believe that happened. I was half asleep when I took out the vent and forgot it! That was so lucky getting her back unharmed...filthy, but unharmed. She's currently pigging out in her cage with Cooper still sniffing her all over. Adventure made her hungry, I suppose. She was so happy to see me she was jumping and clinging. ^^; I was happy enough to jump and climb myself, but I'd kill someone.

Anywho, now that THAT'S out of my system...I was taking photos of my fish when this happened. Some came out pretty bad, others are good. This betta is weird, it changed colors. I WATCHED him change, as if it was just a mist that wore off and came back when he got upset at his reflection or something. It's pretty cool, never seen anything like it and didn't know they COULD do that. So I got some photos to show the color change, not as great though, and some that are pretty good. He's the most aggressive betta I've ever had, a true betta I guess. lol That's fine, he's as he should be.

First off, let's do a same side color difference:

I know, terrible picture...he also flares at everything, snails, the tank, plants, frogs...

And now for a few better ones, or at least slightly. lol

I finally discovered why one of my gold platy fry wasn't growing, it's about half the size of its siblings. It's got a messed up spine, I'm not sure if it's just bent or twisted, it looks kinda twisted. Well, it doesn't seem bothered by it's disability, and I suppose it was bound to happen eventually. One out of eight different batches, well, ten now, with a disability. It might be a keeper, let's see how she does. If I do keep her, it'll have to be with other females. Breeding her would be bad for everyone, especially her, I'll have to make a sorority for her or something. lol She seems perfectly happy, and though you can SEE her spine through her pale skin and how messed up it is, she has no problem swimming at all, doesn't even bob funny and goes as fast as everyone else.

My new betta is fitting in well, he eats too and doesn't hide a lot which is normal for most new betta. He no longer attacks the plants and flares at the frogs either, I was worried. He got used to them, I suppose that was HIS way of taking in the new place instead of hiding and fasting. He does still flare at all angles of the tank though, no others have ever done that. I've had five females and three different males in there before that didn't have any issues with it. c.c He's not doing it as much as he was though, I'm hoping he'll chill out, otherwise he's gonna wear himself out. He's a pretty thing too, nice personality and is all Spit-Fire, which I think I'll be naming him, I like him. x) Fits right in, finally got myself a betta that so far has had no issues with illness I can see, none at all, and is as aggressive as they're supposed to be. I DID get him from Petsmart...but do you think for once a good breeder may have given some? They had a few nice ones there for once, weren't a mish-mosh and had vigor. Maybe someone just got lucky breeding random bettas. Well, regardless, he's a nice one, and I don't even have to fix him up! I thought he may have had an injury on his face, but I THINK it may be his dragon scales coming in. Dunno though, I don't really know that much about them, though I've started looking into it. He may just be part dragon scale and will never fully get all of them. For now the only difference I see on him from any other crowntail betta is his scales are a bit larger and more serpent-like around his...shoulders. LOL I know they don't have any, but you get the area I mean, right? That part, a bit around the tail before you get to the tail fin area and his face has different scales from the rest of him.

OMG! REN!!! *cries* I'm SO GLAD that story had a happy ending. I was on the edge of my seat. :( Poor little thing. . . ! Ferrets are sometimes TOO playful for their own good. . .

I know it's common for Betta to change colors, but that's pretty dramatic. And also just pretty. He's beautiful! *demands the next set of pictures*

Poor lil' Platy. . . I hope he does well. I've had that happen with guppies, was encouraged to cull them. . . but that's something I just can't do!

Geez, nothing harder than getting GOOD photos of baby fish, I was hoping to show off one of the creamsicle mix juveniles, the one I named Koi. They just don't hold still. I took about thirty photos and I THOUGHT I had some good ones, unfortunately not. But I'll put them up to show you at least the gist of her coloring. I really like her silver scales with gold spots and flecks all over her. =) Please bear with the horrible smeary photos I can't seem to stop taking. lol The other one, Freckles, I think is a boy, I'm gonna name him Specks. LOL I think I have a third one in there, not sure...I know I gave a few away, I accidentally gave one of my girls away. The boy is gonna need to be watched. I want him...but I think he's gotta go before he does any inbreeding. =( They're all over an inch and a half long now, might even be two inches, not counting the points on their tails for the Lyretail part. They all have nice extreme ones, not chewed up like most of the ones you buy these days. Not a nick on them!

They're so awful, even for me. ><

Obviously I'll be trying to get better ones eventually, but tough luck with that. I think my camera is about to kick the bucket, and my other one takes worse photos. lol

Yup, my creamsicle molly is having babies again. She has some biiig babies. I have her in the big net, she's very good. She doesn't flip out when I need to move her or put in such places, she's trusting for a fish. lol So far I found six, I know some are in the main tank, only really worried about her, the gouramies, rams and the two big males, the rest of the fish are too small to eat such big babies, though they can probably hurt them. So the chances I'll find the ones in the main tank are highish, not holding out hope all the same...Keeping an eye out. lol I reached my hand in the net(the big one I made myself), to put in some things for the babies to hide, mom doesn't care. I like that she's used to me, she's not stressed at all, not breathing hard or flipping out. Can't do that with any other fish, save for Capone, my blue dwarf gourami who passed away earlier this year.

I'm pretty sure now that the babies she's been having are part dalmatian molly. He's been giving her a lot of attention since I got him, and our last one did as well, so that explains their odd colors since my only other males are steely grey and gold. Had they been his, I imagine they'd come out like her first batch, the ones that are part silver lyretail, or look like her more if they were from the gold male I only had a short time.

lol I just took a random mass of photos for ya. =)

First up, ten gallon betta and frogs...my sword plant is not doing well and hasn't been for a while. x.x Trying to save it, got tabs and fertilizers and C02 boosters...bleh. =( Anywho, yeah, Spit-Fire looks bored.

The 55 gal, you can see one of my new nets, and that I trimmed my anubias...I took off all the leaves with spots, but more showed up. x.x You can also see my big ugly yellow net I made. LOL It's currently got my creamsicle in it giving birth.

I left the algae alone finally, gave up the fight for that corner, snails like it anyways.

And the nursery...MOST of those babies are big enough for the main tank, more than big enough, but they're so hard to catch, I've been doing a couple at a time for the last month or so, I NEED it for my new babies, but I just can't catch them, they VANISH when I try.

Yes, I moved the cories, for the life of me I can't part with them, they're lovely cleaners in there though...get the food too big for the fry. I'm GOING to change to sand as soon as I can get it done.

I'd like to show off that red Endler's Guppy I got in there, it musta been one I rescued. I don't have any Endler's guppies. lol It's mostly red with some blue, the silver on it from fryness is vanishing to red, it's definitely a male as well, which I need, an unrelated male to all my guppies, perfect, and nice colors! But he doesn't hold still for the camera, though you may spot him in here somewhere.

And the ones I'm keeping in that small net until the creamsicle is done, there should only be five guppies otherwise. You can see my guppies, mostly pale in color, and the more red ones are some new platies, and the black and gold ones are the newborns I saved from my creamsicle, see how BIG they are compared to those older platy and guppies? They're big even for molly babies!

That big mouth under the net is my female dalmation lyretail trying for a snack, as usual, as well as my blue platy and gold platy, and I think my silver and gold male... lol

FINALLY! My Blue Platy has given birth. Finally, finally, finally! I got several little babies. Some look like they'll be blue, others came out sorta more white or reddish. I was hopeful of that! :3 I dunno how many I got, I can guess around 8...it happened in the middle of the night last night, about one am. It was too stiff in the guest room so I moved back to my own, and had the odd urge to check the fish. There was about 20 behind my net, but the younger fish I have in there were getting at them where the adults could not. GRR! I never thought she'd pop. My red platy and one of the white calico juveniles has been in love with her for the past two months or so, I am hopeful I'll get some oddballs, I like oddballs. lol I'm actually hoping some will come out much darker blue. Three of them actually look purple, though that's probably new babyness...well, that'd certainly be cool and I wouldn't complain, but if they dont' stay that color, I am hoping they'll be a bright blue instead of light blue/grey like mine are. They don't look like the blue babies I got before, the two I raised...Red is after her again as we speak. lol I have a blue platy that came out blue with a red dorsal fin thanks to his father the red tiger, so I wont mind more, he's pretty neat, but more red on some would be cool. Or maybe some odd mish-mosh. Like I said, I like oddballs.

Ah yes, I was getting worried my gold dust molly had dropsy or something. But she popped this morning. I only found two babies so far though, not only are they extremely tiny compared to the babies I'm used to getting, but are thin shaped like her, black and gold like her as well and so easy for the others to find. ;_; But hey, mom didn't have dropsy, she was carrying a double brood! She really did look bad, it's that shape they have. Her whole bottom half just swelled up and she looked like she had the second to last stages of dropsy(I think that's the uber-swelling bit before the scales pop out). Glad I was wrong. She's also swimming normal again, I was treating her for swim-bladder disease, which it seems she didn't have. The poor girl was just huge. lol She's still going, and I'd move her for the last few kids, but she looks to be almost done, and I don't have anywhere to move her now that I've had three batches of babies in the last three days. ^^;
