Well, it's a darn good thing I made some room in the nursery. LOL I got more new babies, and they're still coming. My Silver Lyretail Molly, the one I got first with a little chip out of her tail, is dropping now. This time for sure, she's almost done. She's skinnied up a lot, but she still seems to be going. I wager ten more might pop out. ^_^ Cute little things. I got some photos of them as I was moving them. I was putting them in a pitcher so I didn't have to go back and forth from tank to tank with an eye-dropper and risk babies getting eaten or dropped on the floor should I have a turkey baster malfunction, which has happened before. >>; I also got a few photos of everyone once in the net. Cute little silver babies. ^_^ And some multi-colored ones too, but not from my silver I don't think, I think all hers came out pure silver or a little peach...which was expected considering my male is silver/grey and yellow.

First off, two pics of the new little silvers(I keep wanting to call them Sylvers lol), in the pitcher still:

And now a few of everyone, I got a lot so you can make out some at least in there. lol I like the ones that are all different colors, especially the white and black ones. Their the reason I thought my silver mollies were giving birth in the first place, they were housed with black mollies. But it was my little gold dust female. ^_^ You can see the difference between the silvers and the gold dust mixes. =)

lol You know I can't help it. I have them split in two different nets now since I have so many. I could probably release the black ones with the older babies and they'd be fine, they're quite a bit bigger than the rest of the babies. Or maybe they just look like they are because they're black.

Anywho, more shots. I was trying to get shots of my mixed babies so you could see what I'm talking about with the color. I got some, but with so many babies, it makes a few out of focus. x.x By the way, dunno if I mentioned, that stuff in the net is sand since I was raising some baby snails in there before. lol

I also have a video of the babies when the first ones were born a few days ago, no "Sylver's" in this one. lol

Heh, guess what? My Creamsicle gave birth again. lol I got a whole bunch of babies again. I think I missed some, but I just don't have the energy to chase them all down. x.x I think I got ten or fifteen.

I guess I didn't get rid of that wasting disease. I'ma go get more meds for it and double it this time. My variatus seems to be gaining weight after the first round and I thought I got rid of it, but now two platies and two guppies seem to be coming down with it. One guppy is absolutely emaciated! My blue tailed female. =( And it LOOKS like one of my juvenile mollies got it too, but I'm not sure. It's the one I think is a male that has silver lyretail in it, it's always had a thinner shape, but I dunno at this point. This is very troubling. It is freakin incurable?! =-=;

Anywho, got some photos and video of the new babies again. lol So those will come later after I get them uploaded. I was trying to film them and contain my brat cat who was killing my curtains. =-= Ah, throw me a bone here, I'm having such bad luck. Bad cold, swollen throat, baby fish everywhere, can't sleep and have to chase them down while energyless, cats attacking me, ferret is trying to claw through metal bars and plastic making noise. This is one of those days, now the rest of my female fish will pop too. For once I coulda done without the extra work. Buwahahaha. xD

:( I'm sorry they're sick again, Sylver. What medication are/were you using? Is it safe to double? I know you're careful. . . but I'll feel better if I say it anyway - Please be careful!

I was going to double the length it was used, not the dosege. That'd be awful....

Turns out what I thought was going on isn't...She had given birth and occasionally the come out like that. She looks more normal again now. I think I got rid of the nasty, my variatus is getting some weight and is fighting for her right to eat. =) I was using the API General Cure for Parasitic Fish Disease. I thought it was a crock, but it seems to have worked out in my favor when I got the stuff on a whim. Couldn't find ANYTHING else for internal parasites, would you believe? I looked at every medicine they had. x.x Grandma kicked me in the butt for taking so long to shop.

I do seem to be having a problem in my nursery though. I don't know if it's a sickness or if I have an evil nasty in there...I only have trumpet snails with them, and assassin snails who I think are actually trumpets...I've seen trumpets come in those colors, I have no idea. Anyway, assassins aren't supposed to eat fish unless they're dying, but I keep finding baby fish with their stomachs ripped up and still alive. Well, two were unfortunately, I found four more that were not. Two swords, two guppies and one of my newer babies I found dead tonight. All but the one are older babies.
Not only that, but the sword that was still alive, everyone was trying to kill it! Everyone being the youngest babies I have...Little piranha babies, I swear! And I mean everyone, and he was swimming normal...it's like they all went cannibal like he smelled like food or something, what the heck?! x.x Mad fish disease? The one older guppy that's still alive is spinning and not swimming, I can't see any holes in him though...I am wondering if that's the initial problem before they get chewed on...I haven't had cleaning supplies or perfumes, or anything at all in here really. Not for about two weeks. Windows been closed, it's been cold...I've been absolutely sick as a dog for a week but I did not skip regular maintenance this time because that ALWAYS screws me over...So I dunno. o-o Really.

Oddness is happening...although I am wondering if that API TAP water conditioner is causing problems and not fixing. I put in the required dosage and both times its been used this happened...It doesn't do such things to my adult fish though...could there be something in it babies can't handle? I always mix it in water before adding it. Usually I use Aqueon Water Conditioner instead, but I ran out all three times it was used....The first time I used it and these issues happen, since I said three not two, I also had that filter malfunction and so blamed that.

-sigh- Here we go again. Figured out what was up with my cannibal fish, I think...Ich. I have ich in my nursery and I know not where it came from. There is none present in my 55 gallon that I have seen, not a single speck on anyone and the temp in that tank is 82...I noticed some of my fish in the nursery tank had specks on their fins and bodies, not many...just a few light specks I wanted to get before they got worse, and I only saw four fish with one or two here and there like little grains of salt...

So I removed all the plants and bucketed them, added in about...maybe just over 3/4 the required salt dosage(about three and a quarter tablespoons, says four tablespoons for a 20 gallon tank as full dosage), and waited half an hour, then I turned up the heat two degrees, which made it 82. I did a light clean before adding salt, and then I went to bed...
I had this urge to check the temp about two hours later to make sure it went where it should be and when I hit the lights I saw my babies were growing crystals...I mean they were absolutely covered in what looked like white crystals. All over every fin, many had it coming off their faces and eyes like crystalized eye-lashes...And I'm not talking like a crystal like film on the body, it was coming off them like stalagmites! WTF IS THAT? Is that Ich?! I've never seen it do that before if it was. So even though I'm sick as a dog and had done a regular clean before trying to fix the...what I thought and still think was ich...I did another change, making it about a 55% for the day. I only do changes that big in an emergency, and it seemed like one. Those little crystals were breaking off of some and regrowing, they were all over floating on top of and in the water and I wanted to clean as many as I could out. Seems to have worked in my favor, I only lost five babies overnight, about 15-20 were dead within that two hour time span, completely covered in this crystal-like substance.
Is it possible that amount of salt did this? I HAVE doubled the dosage before for things and never saw such a thing happen if it was, I didn't even use a full dose this time since it seemed slight..maybe I didn't add enough for the amount of ich that bred?

Anywho, it seems to have settled now, unfortunately I lost over half of my older babies and a few younger ones I had released since the nets were too full. ALL babies in the nets were completely unaffected by this outbreak. Not a single sick one in the nets..in the same tank. Guess I should count my lucky stars, I have no idea what the hell happened here, it was like an alien world...oddly kinda pretty. ><!!! Yeah I shouldna said that! But it was. >_>; And very unfortunate. I was going to grab photos of it, but I had left my camera with grandpa. I figured it'd still be going on today, but it's almost cleared up.
But it took about ten+ swordtails, a few platies and about a dozen of the older guppies with it. Of the newest babies that were in the main area, I think I lost all but two(About fic or six of the new silver mollies, a few calicos, some that I have o idea about but were probably silvers, a few of the black and gold ones...one calico seems to be ok still), and one is not looking good. I'm glad the net seems to have protected my new baby mollies, I hope it keeps up.

I have no idea, Sylver. The dosage of salt as written on the package is actually considered to be in the low range of tolerance - especially for these fish. I've never heard of such a thing happening. . . you really might want to post in the illness section if you haven't already. . .

Just for the record, API's General cure contains Praziquantel, which IS used for internal parasites. . .

Sorry you're having so many problems again. *sigh* Have you added anything to the system over the last 3 months? I feel sure you have. . . I can't keep track anymore!

Eh, I'm always having problems, I'm obviously doing something wrong. lol I think I'll sell off all my fish once my favorites go to the other side and get a single or pair of fancy goldfish for the 55 gallon, and give the two smaller tanks to the frogs and my bettas. >_>

The only thing I have added in the twenty gallon over the last five months was that general cure, salt, pimifix, melafix and Seachem Prime. Not all at once of course. In the last two months, I don't think I have added anything other than a little aquarium salt and the General Cure, and Prime since I had that ammonia in the tap water a few weeks ago. All of that stuff shoulda been cleared out by this time other than a little salt I added in for a boost when my newborns came in. And only a tad...maybe a tablespoon which would be even lower on the low side. I usually do it to give their immune systems a boost after they're born, especially if they've been moved since that's just stressful to anyone, let alone newborns.
