Hm, the four cories I have left seem to be just fine, haven't had any issues, even missed the yuck that hit my tank in January...I only have four though, two schwartz and two emeralds. They SEEM perfectly happy...Should I chance getting them two-three more of each? I can quarantine them, but that didn't help anyone last time. ^^; The fish that passed the yuck, I am almost positive were my female bettas, who I had in QT for about two months before moving them to the 55 gallon. They all dropped like flies starting the next day, one by one over the course of about three days, and then a few days later everyone else started dying. x.x;

I would like to have proper groups, though they look happy they may not be. Think I should go for it? I'm caught between REALLY wanting to, and fearing more dead buddies.

Oh, also...Miss Golfball Luna still hasn't popped. But she looks like she may be getting ready too, she's been hanging out by herself a lot and moving slow like most of my big mama's do when they're about ready to go into labor. Keeping an eye out still! lol

Speaking of babies, I found a dead gold platy baby in the nursery. I never lose babies after the first day. Bah. =( I wonder how that happened, maybe it didn't get enough to eat with all the other babies. Everyone else looks fine and plump/normal sized, but that one was skinny. x.x

Oh yeah, I found more eggs in my nursery too, my dark striped purple mystery snail has been busy. She's also found out how to get into the breeder. She does so daily, eats all the food I put in there...poops a big mess, and then leaves until I add more food. LOL Talk about a mean mom. =p

Hmmm. . . if it were me and my tanks, I'd lay off stocking anything and just let things simmer for a while. Keeping up with this thread is an adventure all it's own - your tanks seem to shift and change on an almost daily basis between babies being born, babies being rehomed, illness, deaths, and stocking! It's like watching a soap-opera! I've found that the best thing to do with fish is nothing for at least three months after ANY dramatic event! But I'm definitely a huge proponent of slow and steady. :) If the Cory's seem fine now, I'd say let 'em be - they probably are. :)

lol I agree. It's been...not quite two (or was it in January?) months since my epidemic started, it lasted two or three weeks. So I should probably wait at least another month or two. Problem is keeping my hands off when I go pick up supplies. xD The fish start at the door when you walk in, it's literally impossible not to look...and I oogle at every single tank. That's why I move faster than some. I just can't help myself half the time. >_>;

Like that Silver Lyretail molly I got last week...or two weeks ago, whenever. I lose track of time. x.x She is...so pretty. From day one, and even at the shop, right over to look at me when I watch the tank. She dances in front of my face, I couldn't not get her, and she continues to be a social butterfly. I think she just likes my glasses, maybe they all do. ^_~ But it's still a real treat to watch. I think she's got the best personality since my Creamsicle. She has a dark spot in her belly but she's not very plump. I think she's got babies in the making, probably not due for two or three weeks though, but she seems very happy with me and my other fish. That Muppy keeps mating with her. Those will be interesting babies. Said "Muppy" is that male molly I have, he looks just like most muppies I have seen. They seem to have a sex-drive that rivals all. He was mating with one of my cories for goodness sake!! But she lets him though, so it's not like he's running her down and stressing her out like he was with a few of my other females. lol I'm very happy I got her though, even with a chip out of her tail that may never grow back like one of my dalmation females has, she's gorgeous. She was like "-wigglewiggle- See how pretty I am? Take me home, take me home!" And I was like "OK! Ma'am, I want this one!" lol

Ah, speaking of my creamsicle, her babies have come out rather pretty. They're growing so fast. I want to keep them all, but I don't think I have room for five more 4-5 inch, and very thick, fish. Few smaller fish and bottom dwellers, sure, but I dunno about that. I hold out hope someone will get me another tank as a random gift or something, but I doubt it. xD All but one have a very extreme lyretail. The one without it has a nice fan. They're all a light gold color with some more whitish areas here and there, and every last one of them has freckles. Dark red/brown speckles, black speckles or red speckles. A few even have bright red spots bigger than the speckles. The one that I have who is more silver, who I have fallen inlove with next to Freckles(I named the one with the most speckles that, she/he has two big bright red spots, one on her head and one to the side of her gil), he looks a bit goofy. He's got a long slender body, big gils, and a huge tail. I mean he looks normal as fish go, but I haven't seen one quite that shape. In otherwords he doesn't look like he's got something wrong with him, he just got a mix of both mom and dad in a weird way. I am positive now that HIS father was my silver lyretail male, and the rest were probably from my red dalmation sailfin judging from those bright red markings. Either that or mom had a bit of red in her, as happens with creamsicles sometimes, and dad was my dalmation or my black sailfin. I just don't know, and as YOU know, there is no way to really know for sure since I have had about eight different males with her since she was purchased and only started having babies in December. lol

Ah yes, she had a few more babies a little while ago. They're all doing lovely..and there is one I am absolutely keeping. There's no way around this, he is stunning. If only he'd stay that way. He's a very bright gold/orange color with black shading, darker than the others I've had were last time, who stayed that way but accidentally went with the fish guy I sold babies to...but this little kid..he's half gold and half black like my gold dust molly, but he's got orange scattered through that black on his back end, and black scattered through his orange on the front, but the most stunning part is: He has stripes. He looks like a tiger! From back to belly, black and orange stripedness. :3 He's too small for me to get proper video of him for you, but I just have to eventually. He's the star of the nursery! There are a couple slightly similar, but not nearly as noticeable as he is. You look in there and as soon as you catch him with your eye through alllll those other babies, it's hard to drag yourself away from him. And he comes to see you as well. X) Ohhh, there is absolutely no way I can part with that baby! There are a couple I like and was considering, but he certainly wins! I can't wait until he's big enough for me to show you guys, I've never seen one like him before. And even though he's like...just under half an inch long, he's already got personality and shows it off.

Yesss, I wrote another book. I should get it published. xD

Ah, too late to edit in. lol I was staring at my tanks and realized that tiny plant I got a two months ago isn't so tiny anymore. It only had five or six leaves then and was half the size it is now. I always keep 'em in the cups for the first few months or so, not sure if that has anything to do with it. They do tend to melt a bit when I remove them, but they perk up pretty fast...they look terrible if I take them outta the cups when I get them. One of them died too when I did that.
Anubias seem to do really well in my tanks. lol Stem plants do too, depending what kind, but swords seem to go kaboom...Umbrella plants do pretty good too, as well as some ferns. =o Guess I just don't have the right stuff for sword plants, although the one I have that was having trouble before IS doing a whole lot better. I had two others previously that just never did perk up.
But check this out. =) It's got one leaf I need to clip, but the growth rate of these anubias is amazing.

Haha, you're so impulsive compared to me. Yah, the sickness was two months ago - but you last brought a fish home a week or two ago! I'd start counting wait time from the last addition, not the last illness!

Sounds like you've got some beauties over there I'm glad they're doing well!

What crazy person would literally jump for joy over seeing animals mating? Oh wait, ME! LOL

Finally, Mister Frog figured it out. I looked over and saw him hanging onto my big female, properly this time and jumped up and screamed "WOOO I'M GONNA HAVE FROGLETS!" Scared my cat so bad she hit the wall.

Now what the heck do I do? Let's see, scooping cup: Check. Breeding net: Check...frogs love: Double check...no, he let go because he's not very bright...he's chasing her around though, which I hear the females like, and require of males to see if they're good enough. lol

My first in coming froggy babies, possibly anyways. No guarantee yet. I have been waiting four months! And my nerves are going BZZZZT about now. Will I be able to get the eggs properly...will I be able to feed them and care for them right...will they all survive...where the heck do I put them when they're bigger?! x.x Nursery in use...

Anywho, yeah, look. I know I have shown him latching onto her wrong before. She always bites him until he leaves and they fail to spawn, but he got it this time...not that anyone really wants to see such a thing, but hey...I am crazy, and I am so excited. I hope my excitement isn't let down. I've got everything in place waiting, mister betta was moved to a net in the nursery until I catch the eggs, then he gets to go back home. Mister froggy, don't you dare fail!

Pardon the GO DIE--ahem, spot algae...I actually broke two nails and split my finger open trying to scrub it off with a razor, obviously that carp doesn't wanna come off! >/

Well, I've gone and done it again. Last night a plant got stuck in my filter and it blew. I lost about twenty+ babies. Mostly the youngest guppies, gold platies and I think ALL of my new baby mollies. But what was worse...I knocked the lid into my main tank and squished Capone. He died instantly. I cannot believe it, something so irresponsible! The plant was out of my control, sometimes they knock them loose overnight, or during the day for that matter, but I banged my hand on the top of the main tank because I got my shirt stuck and yanked. v.v; I was thinking about moving Capone to the 20 gallon once it wasn't a nursery anymore and adding in a small group of panda cories and tetras, he was to be my beautiful centerpiece buddy. I just can't believe it! Back to my super bad luck once or twice per week again like last year. BAHH!
I dunno how I'm gonna tell grandma about Capone. He was her favorite fish, and mine to boot. And -I- killed him. ;.; She's going to think some nasty got in the tank again if I tell her I dunno how he died, so I guess I shouldn't lie. Lies get you worse trouble. ^^; I guess I can't blame my own clumsiness on bad luck though, but with the plant in the nursery I can. x.x; Ahh, cest la vie! Can't fix it now, so I should stop bawling and move on to caring for the ones I got left, eh?

Well, I did get some good luck today. The guy that came to install our new microwave heard me talking to my grandma about my fish, we got into a big conversation. He came up and praised my tanks, he has some of his own. He also bought some babies from me and two of my older mollies! He gave me five dollars for two fish and I told him no it was too much for babies. LOL So I gave him two swordtail babies, one or two calicos, a gold and two guppies that wouldnt' stay outta the net.

Well, my adults are in hunt mode, but I can't see miss golddball Luna passing any babies...I wonder if someone even is or if they mistook a piece of duckweed for...food. ^^; Maybe I'll get some luck outta this yet.

As for my frogs, mister froggy is a failure as a male frog! He gave up the chase and the girls no longer love him.

Very sorely missed. I can't believe that happened. He was trying to be social with me as he always does, if he hadn't been so sweet he wouldn't have been in the way. I held him for about ten minutes and apologized, I really can't believe that just happened, I haven't ever cried so hard over a fish. I don't know if I have the heart to get another one ever. I had always dreamed of having a place just for him and getting him a girlfriend in another tank and trying to breed them some day. Having Capone babies would be lovely, especially if any came out as sweet as he did.

Well, on the plus side, I think I got the nursery back in check. Everyone is stressed out of course, but the older babies all seem ok, found zero of them dead or sickly, and they are acting and looking normal. I had to do another change, which I JUST did day before yesterday...so I added in water from my other tank and added stress zyme+ and stress coat. Hopefully that will help and fix any damage to their slime coats. Unfortunately I think my snails may have been hit hard, the babies may not make it, and I knocked down the newest smaller nest. I have it on the breeder so it should be fine if the other ones were any indication. I guess we'll see though, on everything, if it goes well.

Today was just some bad luck and my own clumsiness. I'm still hoping my frogs will breed, that would brighten my day. ^_^ I do always seem to have babies around...if they weren't such a joy I think I woulda quit fish keeping a year ago. lol I only started on a whim, I missed the guppy tank I had when I was little and had been watching the tanks at a shop when we went shopping for my cousins birthday. I never thought I'd get as into it as I have, never did I dream I'd have a 55 gallon tank!
That and caring for what I have, they make me feel good when everyone pops over to be social and see what I have for them today! They always seem to brighten me up. New babies seem to be born when the worst things happen...it's like they say about the circle of life...some die and others are born. Kinda cheesy. lol I couldn't quit fish keeping anyways, I am so attached to all of my fish. And I think they know it. =p It wouldn't really be fish keeping without issues popping in though...I just wish they'd be less big!

Oh hey, just realized I DID have six of those mollies. The older ones. I gave away two, and I have four in there. I THOUGHT I had six, but I kept thinking I was miscounting because every so often I'd only count five, but the fourth one just popped out to grab some shrimp. LOL I like those kids, I may just keep them all. >_>; They remind me of Koi with those colors, that may be an easier explanation on how they look than I've been giving. ^^;

*hugs* My heart is broken for you, I know how much you loved that lil' guy. But . . . I'm very happy that you don't seem to be dwelling on it, and so glad to hear that things are going well elsewhere in your tanks. Your boyfrog is goofy! I have to say, I've never seen my frogs have any trouble with mating at all - it just . . . was natural! LOL! I'm sure he'll figure it out. . . too funny.
