I dunno, my experience with MTS has been vastly different than my experience with Pond snails or Ramshorns (who are not allowed in my tanks). It seems to me that the population is only ever as big as you allow it to be with feeding - or lack thereof. . . and I have them in all of my tanks. If it had been pondsnails, I'd be overrun by now! MTS are beneficial, and don't harm plants, plus? Cute! Love those little 'trunks' :)

Oh. Right. Forgot who I was talking to. The baby momma! Of COURSE you're gonna get overrun with 'em. You're already overrun with live-bearers and Apple Snails. Things breed like CRAZY for you. Must be something in the water over there ;)

lol Yes, something in the water indeed...it's called LOVE, of course. ^_~ And no, considering how many female livebearers I have, each type with one or two males...I'm not that over-run. I get maybe thirty babies every two or three months. o-o This last time I got over-run, was actually because I -purchased- some very pregnant females. I cheated. ^_~

Ah, you know, my Bamboo Shrimp likes to disappear here and there, so I thought nothing of it when I didn't see her for two days. >_>; And then there was a funky smell in my room and I freaked, smelled like rotting shrimp. I was so upset I trashed my room and I did find her, unfortunately stiff as a board under my dresser. =( My sweet bamboo shrimp! T^T I dunno how she got out!!! I have nothing tall in there and I keep my water about two inches from the top because of my frogs. I assume she climbed the filter. v.v; Darn! Well, if I get more, straight to the big tank this time, I don't have to worry about escapes in there because they can't reach the heater or the filter to climb it, and the taller plants are well away from the edges around the filer and heater where it's open. That just sucks! She was doing so well and got a nice color and fat belly. v.v; In all honesty though, I think Alanna did it. I saw her standing on the aquarium stand yesterday morning being wild and crazy and yelled at her to get off. I didn't notice anything, so I'm not sure she did do it. But she does try, she sits on my filter when I'm not watching and tries to grab the fish in my big tank. I've started spraying her with water but that is only a temporary fix, she gets right back up again. Now I just kick her out when I'm not there and shut the door. MEH!

Anywho, yes, is this a Malaysian Trumpet Snail? It's one of the snails I rescued, it's a pretty good size. About double the length of the youngins you sent me, but they look the same to me. I could be wrong! If it is one, I hope I can care well enough for the little ones you sent me so they grow nice and strong. =)

Yes, spot algae right up the center front of my tank. At least mister or misses snail seems happy with it, I can't get it off. x.x My plants look great in that tank, I dunno how to get them apart now though, they all kinda bound around the roots so I'm scared to move any, but there are several types just...growing like weeds and green as can be in there. lol
So is that a MTS? You can see one of the little ones Chesh sent me in the bottom corner, it seems all survived the trip, even the ones I thought were dead. =)

Here's a whole photo of my ten gallon. It's looking pretty good in my opinion, aside from the spot algae. The more I scrub it off, the worse it comes back. GRR!

Oh no! That's so sad about your shrimp! *cries* What a sad thing to have happen. . . :(

Looks like an MTS from this angle, but it's hard to say without seeing their face - I *think* I see his 'trunk?' There are several types of snail that have 'unicorn horn' shells. The ones I sent to you are pretty small (someone in Becoming tries to eat the lil' ones, so I didn't send any bigger guys so that I can keep my population going), but if you look in my 'aquariums' tab, you'll find some really clear images of MTS, you might be able to compare them to yours? If they called them pest snails, they probably are :)

10g looks to be growing well! Love that bright red Betta. He must be so happy with is 10g!

lol Jack does look red in photos, doesn't he? He's actually pumpkin orange. He loves that tank, unfortunately he caught his tail in the plants and shredded it. I saw him do it and am trying to sort it out a little bit. I'd like to move a few of those plants to the 55 gallon tank. x.x It's a big mess in there...but it does look good regardless. It may as well be thorns to the betta's delicate fins! They aren't sharp or hard plants, actually quite soft, but he got tangled in them, he likes to swim through there. I need to make it so he can do that without getting tangled. x.x MEH. Well, I'm sure he'll be alright, just needs some fixing again. @_@; I'm gonna try again to get some untangled without ripping the roots and other plants, they're in there really good! They like that sand substrate, I hope they'll be ok in the big tank. I am thinking I'll move a tad of the sand with them. It may not look pretty, but it apparently has what the plants need in it and will lessen the shock. Or so I hope. Haha.

Yeah, the snails, they look identical to me. I could be wrong though. lol

Well, today I am keeping an eye on Miss Golfball, I think I'll call her Luna. I'm the best at picking names, and normally don't like that name on an animal since it's rather common...but her tail looks like the light from around the moon, so eh. Why not? Better than calling her Miss Golfball. And less mean. I just never really name my fish, my little cousins do that for me and occasionally I remember them. lol Anywho, she looks like she's laborey, infact I think I MIGHT have seen a baby, not sure. The fish aren't hunting around but I saw my creamsicle nab something moving. Coulda been a baby from the last brood. >< Hers at that! That would suck. But yeah, keeping an eye out.

Also had another issue. My albino BN pleco died, and my calico has vanished. I can't find her but I haven't dug either. She likes to disappear sometimes but one dead has me worried about her. Bah, I couldn't see any problem with him aside from the fact the other fish ate his fins before I got there, I am wondering if they may have gone frenzy as they do occasionally and killed him thinking his fins were fry or something. =( I did a water change after I found him. I also think he may have been stunted. I dunno how, he grew about two inches since I got him or so, but then he just STOPPED growing and hadn't since that spurt after I moved him to the 55 gallon. He was looking kinda odd. Big head and short body, they have that anyway but his was extreme. How does a fish that small get stunted in a place so big though? I musta done something wrong. I fed him a lot of veggies and brine shrimp here and there, I figured his diet was complete. x.x; I guess things just happen. I like my plecos, it'd be nice if I could keep them alive! This time I can't see what the actual cause was, my other plecos fell prey to either illness or injury, so their deaths were at least explained. How sucky!

I meant to say I'm NOT the best at picking names. lol Yeah, Miss Golfball is gonna get bigger for a while it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if she dropped a hundred babies over night though. As much as I like having babies and mama's around, when they get that big it can and does do damage to them. Just like a human with stretch marks, they don't go away easily and in severe cases their bodies stay out of sorts like Chelsea did after she blew up. She had this one spot that always stuck out and looked kinda wrinkled. =( I hope this doesn't happen with my guppy. I've noticed they're the more delicate of livebearers when it comes to pregnancy. Easily stressed out and die easier during and after birth, some even get too big and I've heard of them dying from it. >< Well, she seems otherwise fine, as the video shows. Active and happy, eating normal and swimming with the flock, so I'm not TOO worried, but considering the trouble I've had lately, I gotta worry a little. lol

Man, I have rancid luck with bottom dwellers lately too. @_@ I can't find my calico long-finned BN pleco, she's vanished good. She does that a lot, but after my albino died last night, I'm worried for her. With him though, I think he was stunted and his organs weren't, his little body just couldn't handle it. -sigh- What to do, I wonder. I want those long-finned plecos, but nobody I like seems to do well in my tanks. My cories are doing alright...for now. I'm hopeful they'll continue to be good, otherwise I'm gonna be strapped for a bottom feeder. Sure, I don't NEED one, but I'd like to have them. Meh, maybe it's just a run of bad luck and I"m getting ahead of myself. lol My calico is probably under the log or cave where she likes to be and is fine. She's growing good, I don't see signs of stunting in her either. ^_^

Wow, talk about strangeness. I had a dream I was napping on the leaf of one of my plants in the 55 gallon tank and my five juvenile mollies and Big Mama was swimming around me, and off in the distance we could see the big bunch of new plants I added in last night(That tangle from the ten gallon my betta injured himself on, I had to kinda get my hands under the whole thing, I swear it felt like the roots were across the whole tank!), they look like a jungle! Like some big oasis with a few tall plants (Or palm-like trees or something around it is what it looked like in my dream). And there were like a thousand baby guppies and other babies swimming around there with all the big fish, who may as well have been sharks, swimming around above it.

I guess that was pretty cool, if not very weird and strange feeling being able to just be under the cool water and breathe, it was very comfy. >_>; I wonder if that's what the tank looks like to my fish. I sure hope so, I enjoyed it. xD

Anywho, miss Golfball Luna hasn't given birth yet. Geez! Surely she will soon, like tomorrow or sooner kinda soon. >>; She really might bust ribs at this point, if she hasn't already with that bit sticking out in one area. >>;

Usually when I have baby fish dreams someone pops within the day or already has. It's like a sixth sense...except this time. My guppy continues to get bigger. ^^; Well, for her trouble, I hope I can catch and raise the majority before they get eaten!

Ah, more bad luck at the Sylver Home. I found my Calico Long-Finned BN Pleco this morning, half of her anyways...under the log. How would she get cut in half?! My god. I think she may have moved under the log when I moved it over to clean under it, most of the yuck flocks to the log, makes it easy to clean I suppose. ^^; But that sucks! I always lift it to clean, so I know I didn't get her, but she's stubborn and hangs onto things I am trying to remove, I had no idea she could get trapped under there though. I assume the fish ate the half that was sticking out. BAAH! I think I'm done. I really like those, I have no desire to have anymore come to my tanks and die. Freak accidents, illness...poor care before I got them. I was hoping to get her a red calico mate one day...but yeah, I don't think I'll be getting anymore of those. I like plecos so very much. I REALLY WANT A PAIR...but alas, I get plecos and they die. c.c Hellifiknow how Big Mama Creamsicle has lasted two years with me, everything else seems to get dead somehow. >_>; Aya, well, I'm sad about this. I had her for long enough I figured all was good and gravy and bam, the third long-finned to die in my care in four months. By my own clumsiness this time. Well, at least my mollies and my gourami love me and want to stay. ^^;

Heh, I dunno, maybe bristlenose plecos aren't for my kind of tank. I truly want a pleco and I cannot have the larger species in a 55 gallon tank...what do you guys think would go well in there? I'd like a pleco that gets at least 6 inches long that is hardy and friendly...and goes with livebearers and their tank type. One that if it dies you know I'm a real screw-up.

Yes, I know, griping, I am so upset about it I just can't believe it! She was the star of my tank next to the gourami's. T_T The stars of my tank never seem to do well...-knocks on forehead for Capone and Leo's sake-

Oh, speaking of Gourami's...how quick do Gold Gourami's grow? Mine was a tad smaller than Capone when I got him, I think they're about the same size now. Annnd...he's gotten fat. LOL Gourami's are difficult in that sense, I have to trick Capone to the other side of the tank behind the net for feedings or he eats everything, Leo is harder to do that with, he's not got the hang of it yet...But yeah, I think that's about...maybe a quarter inch bigger now, tad more perhaps...He's longer now, but not wider in body-shape. Is that slow, fast, normal? o-o;
