Unfortunately...yes. LOL I've been getting one or two batches a week since the 28th of December or so. Except last week I don't think I got any. lol

I told you I also have a few others expecting. One of my juveniles that I had separated for an extra month or two after she hit sexual maturity, she's pregnant as well. And my Gold Dust is expecting any day now, as well as my blue platy...I'm starting to think my blue platy is always pregnant though. And I am pretty sure my red neon swordtail is expecting, and I am happily awaiting the gold dust and platy, the younger one is going to have her first batch ever, so I'm a bit worried she may not handle well, sometimes they just don't. And the swordtail had that freak accident where she blew up a few weeks ago, so I'm worried she may not be ok to have any kids. Nothing I can do about it now though, I think she's been carrying since I bought her. ^^; I think my silver molly is expecting too, she's looking a bit plump. I haven't gotten babies from her in a few months now I think. =)

To my knowledge, this will be her first brood! She took a liking to my male Black Sailfin Molly, and have been...dancing for the last few days. Now, she is about three quarters of an inch larger than the male fish, and she runs my tank. Haha, so if she gets tired of him, he'll know it. I have ten females and two males in the tank, and I haven't noticed any bullying from the boys, they seem to be rather gentle for males who usually practically attack the females while breeding...Bah. The two males are also interested in three other females at the moment, so she isn't getting too bothered, and to my knowledge only lets my black sailfin near her.

Well, in anycase, I was wondering what the estimate on the brood size is for Creamsicle Lyretail Mollies. I can't find anything on it when I googled. lol They usually add in all the molly species, and I know they can all interbreed and are basically the same species, just different sizes and colors. I also know that bigger fish can have more babies, but it is her first time, again, to my knowledge. She was pretty small when I got her. I've had her for several months now, and she's grown from about two inches to her near four inch size. She really is rather pretty, as is her male "buddy."

Also, for those curious, I have a breeding net which I will NOT be putting her in to have her babies. It has nine fry from a gold dust and silver molly in it right now. I was also afraid it'd be too small and stressful for her in that thing. I have improvised a roomey area for her. I made a large net that I have tied to a very large, two gallon picher(pitcher? I hate that word lol), that I will be putting into the tank, it's used only for my fish water changes and holding for big tank stuff the fish shouldn't be present for or if I have an issue that requires them moved, so it has nothing yucky in it they can't be near, like soap. I need a separate tank for this, really. LOL But I haven't gotten one yet, I intend to get one later this year.

Anywho, yes, makeshift net tied in there, and weighed down. The whole thing can go into the tank, only temporarily, no more than a few hours I am hoping, or the other fish might get upset with me. But this way I don't have to worry about her being in there out of the tank and risk a problem, like oxygen or tempurature, or a spill. I intend to have some plants in the bottom and some gravel for the babies. When they're born, they should fit through the net and be able to get to the plants and hide until mom is done giving birth. I've also made sure it's roomey and that the net wont move or collapse, and it wont catch on her and/or cause damage. This way I can try to minimize loss of babies to being eaten, and lessen stress to the mother and other fish, it wont really be a move, she will just get sorta scooped into it and stay in the tank. I did let a different, very expectant mother go in it last night, I thought she was in labor and I had been up almost two days, I had to sleep or be sick! She did not give birth and I removed her after I had a five hour nap, she seemed not to care. If anything, she wanted back in and tried to do so. ^^; Afterwards, I will remove the fry to the breeding net and let mom have an hour or so to rest before going back to the tank, I don't want the other fish picking at her while she is tired and smells of afterbirth. Would YOU want someone poking at your rump when you just shot out a bunch of babies? lol

SO, anyone have an estimate for me on the possible brood size, or should I ask later once she gets her size on? :3 Also, what do you guys think they will look like? Creamsicle Lyretail Molly with a Black Sailfin Molly. He's pure black except the top edge of his sail. It's bright yellow across the whole top edge! Mom is a very nice orange color with a lighter colored belly and dark eyes. The male has very odd eyes, the top half of his eyes are kinda dark brown/black, but the bottom half seems to be a bright shiny gold color, maybe copper would be a better wasy to explain it. Odd eyes. lol One of my gold dust females has a black eye and a silver eye though, I guess I am used to funny-colored eyes.
You might want to move her early mid and birthing time females reject new tanks and can build up stress this way so get her there as soon as you can

@Sqbear46 That would be cool, I have some really nice swordtail babies. =)

Well, all the babies are getting pretty big. I ended up with more mollies than I meant to keep, I guess they hid well when Fish Guy came to get some babies. lol I have...six I think, one very interesting one that is bright orange with a good bit of darker powdering all over it, two or three that look just like mom and are all a light gold, and one or two that are more of a silver color. They all look just like mom though, shape-wise. lol Their really getting big! At this rate, it'll only be another week or two before they're big enough to go into the main tank with the adults. But I have room to keep them a bit longer to be safe anyways. =p And the swordtails are really getting bright! They're all a lovely red color. Some LOOK like they have blue eyes, but I think they're silver on top of that brilliant red coloring so it just seems that way. I've noticed a few are oddballs like my gold dust molly female I've had almost as long as my creamsicle. She has one silver eye and one black eye. I love it. Some of the swordtails came out that way..but no, there's no relation. lol The swordtails I got were pregnant when I purchased them, and they're all girls. But I love it when they come out with oddball eyes. X)

Anywho, my QT tank has gotten full. @_@ Had some odd issues lately. One of my cories died too. Never had sick cories before, that just sucks. =( I was told he had some sort of parasite so I'm treating my tank as directed by the petshop guy who knows all and is awesome. lol He's one of the few people at a pet shop I've ever met who will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about fish of all kinds. He sure gives me a lot of help, and he does it for free. ^_^ So it's not like he's after a profit. Isn't that cool?
Well anyways, my creamsicle has some odd marks on her I initially thought were from injuries, I still think they might be, they have't changed in weeks. But just to be sure I'm treating her with an antifungal and some broad spectrum antibiotics. I'm thinking she has the same issue Capone and my old dalmation male had a while back. It didn't cause them to act ill, but the other fish would pick at the patches on their skin and remove the scales, and they would just LET them all do it! I'm pretty sure at this point it's some-sort of fungal infection, but it doesn't seem to be causing them harm itself. o-o I dunno, but I'm trying to treat it like one. lol It does LOOK like the columnaris I had on a balloon molly a long time ago, but I never had a problem with other fish, the fish that had it came from a shop. c.c
Anywho again...lol, Capone seems to have it the worst. I'm not sure he had any fungal infections, but he let my other fish chew off the scales on his back! Bah! Just like what happened to my dalmation, and that was quickly fixed with the same treatment i'm giving them all now, so I hope that's gonna be it. They're both perfectly happy in my QT tank. lol It's also where I have my female bettas in QT as well. x.x They don't even pay the two newbies any mind at all, so everyone is happy. Getting a bit full though. xD But nobody seems REALLY sick, everyone is active and eating and messing around. Capone had me worried for a while though, he wasn't active at all and didn't pay any mind to the food...that's very un-him. But he's doing good now.

Well, wish us luck. =p I think I nipped it in the bud, no idea what it was or where it came from though. My water parameters are all "Perfect" as petshop guy said, and he gave them all to me so I can agree. lol I'm not sure what's been going on. ^^; I guess I'll put it under new tank problems, that never fails! Few weeks after adding fish something always hits. ^^;

Oh yeah, and no new babies lately. lol Although I THINK my gold dust gave birth...I didn't get any if she did. =( I can see little baby eyes in my little gold dust though, the younger one, my oddball eyed females daughter. Hopefully that goes well, still worried about the first time mother. She's a few months past breeding age, but I'm starting to wish I waited longer as she is still young and not full-grown yet. x.x What was I thinking, eh? I'm sure she'll be ok, most fish don't get the luxury of waiting a few months after they hit sexual maturity. lol

So, more babies. lol I went out looking for a panda platy yesterday and NOBODY HAD ANY, same with dwarf cories. My grandma wants some of those tiny pygmy cories for her betta tank, so I went out looking. Well, didn't find any panda platies or pygmy cories. I did, however, find some marigold hi-fin platies. I've been looking for hi-fin platies for a very long time. So I got myself one. It's an interesting little female, kinda a gold/green color with a red tail. Not pregnant...far as I can tell. lol
And I also got what was titled as a white gold platy, I'm pretty sure it's just a gold platy. She's a yellowish-white color also with a bright red tail and back, she also has the MM marking....and is currently giving birth in my nursery tank. >_>; Yeah, I know. lol I really wanted some pandas, but these two are pretty little things. The pregnant female was getting picked on, and you know I can't resist rescuing them. lol So far she's had 16 babies...well that's what she was at when I counted half an hour ago anyways. She's still the size of a large golfball.

Well, I've got some pretty babies to raise again. All of them came out white with black eyes so far. o= I wonder how they'll turn out. My calico platies also started out white, but now they're more of a pinkish-white with spots. Gotten fairly pretty, and my mollies are just about big enough to be in the big tank...actually they are big enough. I am just unsure about it because of the filter, not because of the other fish. I don't have anything I can put around it. =( They may end up in my other tank instead, they're big enough to eat my newborns so I gotta think of something...didn't really have my brain on yesterday when I went shopping for ma. I was so sick I was talking jibberish to the poor petshop lady. x.x I'm still a little blah as you can no doubt tell. xD

I kept telling petshop lady I want that pretty male! It was obviously a female. >>; But then again, they DID make me wait half an hour, NOBODY was there to be helped but me, and there were two workers, I kept telling them I wanted those two and they kinda blew me off. I hate petsmart, but Neptunes didn't have what we needed or wanted. T__T So my mother walks over and goes "Hey Jamie, are you going to get any fish or are you just gonna stand there all day?" So I finally got a little attitude back and said "Well I kept saying "I want these two" but I assume the two workers are busy." And the worker lady goes "Oh you really wanted some fish? I thought you were joking!" REALLY WHY WOULD I JOKE? Most people go to shop. LOL By the time I got home I was so sick it's a miracle I did what I needed to properly otherwise. I've got two pretty new fishies that look lovely, and some more babies. lol

Here's my new girl. =) She's kinda interesting looking and pretty, eh? You can see some of the babies as well. I have the thing in there odd, the divider thing, so she has a bit more room. She seemed happier when I did that for some reason. c.c You can also kinda see one of my molly babies in the first photo off to the side...big, aren't they? lol

*whistles* that is one preggo Platy, lol! THAT is the divider thing I was talking about :) So it isn't actually any bigger than the mesh ones? It LOOKS so much longer - but I guess that's the 'magic' of photography!

No, that's my smaller breeder. That's the one that says it can "Comfortably" fit three fish. There's just no way, it's barely comfy for a single. My mesh one is about three times the size of that breeder...unfortunately it's being used right now. lol

She's a nice looking platy, eh? My hi-fin looks a little bit like your sick baby. =( And apparently there's been a lot of problems with hi-fins lately with similar issues. Unfortunately I never did get answers for you, Chesh. I was just so sick when I went out yesterday, I couldn't manage to get my words out properly. They did tell me they don't think it's TB though, I managed to squeek out "That's not TB is it?" x.x lol I still sound groany and like a drunk. e.e; I'm shocked anyone heard anything I said yesterday, today isn't looking much better. lol

Anywho, I gots videos of my platy as well. A lot of updates today. lol But she's an awful good sport about it, it'll be the first video of one of my fish giving birth...usually they freak easily so I can't have the lights on or be near the tank much, but she was good about it. She was visibly uncomfortable when one of the babies was coming though, and she really wants the babies below her...>>; I'm thinking my baby molly babies might eat them if I release them into the main nursery tank. I released three or four and they vanished. I did put one of my molly babies in the main tank and it was let be, but then it vanished when I went to...well, be sick and gross. =-=; I just can't do anything today. xD They're too big to be eaten, but the filter is really strong. So I think I'll leave the newborns in the breeder for a few days instead, let them get bigger and more confident and strong. We'll see...depends how many kids I get, and hopefully mom wont eat too many before I can move her once she's done. I'm thinking of putting in the divider again and letting her have a day to herself, but again...dunno. Maybe my grandpa will be nice enough to help me out, I really am brain fried. c.c

Anywho, videos! I think you only get to see two or three be born though. lol

Oh yes, and I got a little shorty short video of my long-finned BN pleco. It's not very good and there's a lot of noise, I was watching horror anime. LOL Sounds about right though, I have the flu, I could just claim alllll the noise was me. xD It's not very long, I couldn't really hold still...and I sorta just rolled out of bed and saw her moving about. lol
Chesh likes this.

Sorry you're sick again - I am too! Been a rough winter so far. Congrats on the new Momma, and all of her lil' babies! *shakes head* Wonder how long it'll actually take you to get to your goal of 20 tanks ;)
