I just bought 4 danios and two of them have set up camp under the large stone log I have in the tank. One is small and skinny the other has a very pronounced belly and is quite a bit bigger. Are they breeding or what? Can somebody please let me know. I am new to the whole fish tank thing :-?

Welcome to the forum Reanna. When zebra danios are breeding, they will be chasing from one end of the tank to the other and back. They do not sit still in one spot. Zebra danios are egg scatterers. The females will scatter eggs all along the path they are swimming while the male chases along behind fertilizing them. It is quite a vigorous chase if you happen to see it. You will seldom see any surviving fry because when the breeding is done the fish will go back and eat any eggs they can reach. The ones that fall between bits of gravel will be safe until the newborn fry come out and become lunch.
