Solo Bala Shark

I bought a Bala Shark that was raised in a large school. It's been in my (eventually too small) 55 gallon tank for about a month now and is doing great, but IS the only one of it's kind. So basically I'm asking if Bala's require schools as much when they're older? Mine is 7 inches long so I'm assuming it's at least a year old. A school would definitely make it happier, but I'm not gonna cram a group into a 55g.
