Exclamation sexual maturity age??

I have a tropical comminty tank (listed below) and my lyretail molly dropped fry about 6 weeks ago, i only found one as i did not know she was pregnant. I did save it and she is now in the tank with the other fish. I know for sure mom is pregnant again but i was looking at the baby last night and she kinda looks pregnant too. Is this possible?!?!? Im not a breeder nor do i want to be a breeder but i know this is what happens when you mix sexes. I was unaware at the time of purchase that my lyretail was a female as it was sold as a male.....i now know how to sex the mollies and the baby is def. a female. I REALLY concerned because she is still SOOOO tiny. But she has that "boxy" look to her just like mom does and it seemed to develope almost overnight......

ill try and get her to slow down enought to snap a few pics

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it is near four months before young livebearers are capable of producing fry.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.

i am fairly certine you are correct 1077.. you can tell the sex of the live bearer early but it will take quite awhile before she can produce off spring... dependant on the father the boxyness may be an inherited trait... i recently bought a dalmation platy for one of my tanks and she looked very pregnant and ready to drop at the time (thats why i bought her lol) however it has been around 5 weeks and still no drop!!! i think i just got one with that particular look to her.. this may be the case for your little one as well......

well i have a female lyretail, and a common black male....he is VERY beer belly lol. I also have a female platy (shes red) and she is called a balloon platy...she also looks like she should be dropping any day now but she has looked like that for 6 weeks so i know thats just the way she is...maybe you have this variety as well.......I think the lyretail was pregnant when i got her, so there is no telling what the dad looks like. But that is def. a relief to know that i shouldnt have to worry about her yet...

I have read the same, that it takes 4-5 months before they are sexually mature and able to reproduce.
I also have a 4 week old, female fry in my tank. She looks the same as yours, nice and fat.
