my cories keep breeding, but by the time the fifth day (final day before eggs hatch) the parents eat them!

and they have done it a few times now, the first the eggs when all over plants rocks walls.. ontop of snails..

but now they have gotten better at aim lol and now they tend to be online in one corner of the tank. i want the next time to be successful, even if its just a few cories, so i was wonderling ways of removing the eggs to not harm them, so i can put them in a breeder.

i researched and most say razerblade, but thats way to scary for me.. i dont want to scratch my tank or ruin the eggs! and when i rub them with my finger, they just drop and i lose them in the sand...

ideas?

hi
to be hnest the razor blade is not as bad as you think,
and because you hold it at an angle, you won't scratch the glass.
i guess thet other possibility would be a store card, and use it in
the same way,be as gental as you can,and they should come off
without damage,it may take a couple of times for you to get used to it,
perhaps leave the eggs for a couple of days,
when i tried to remove the eggs i was doing it pretty much as soon
as they were laid, and they broke real easily.

Eggs ontop of snails?? That cracks me up!

For the eggs on plants leaves just remove the leaf with the eggs. Same with the rocks.

Haha...I have cories that lay eggs all the time and there are snails in the tank, but I've never seen them do that. That's hilarious.

Yeah, I definitely think the razorblade is the best bet. I've never done it myself, but I do use a razorblade on a regular basis to scrape algae off the tank walls. As long as you don't scrape the glass with the pointy tips of the blade, you won't scratch the glass, and the blade is so sharp it should remove the egg without breaking it. Like willow said, I would wait a few hours after they're laid to remove them from the glass so they've had time to harden.
