Pregnant Guppy

I have a pregnant guppy that looks like she's about to pop. She gave birth on September 19th so she shouldn't be due until about October 17th, right? Should I go ahead & take her out or wait & just watch her?

By the way, I caught my ghost shrimp in the act of eating one of the guppy babies. They kept disappearing - we started with 11 & now we have 8. I immediately took the shrimp out & moved him to our 10 gallon tank with an 8" goldfish. :D

Thanks!

Guppies can actually carry more than one batch of fry in different stages of development at the same time. I have seen mature eye spots and eggs at the same time when I had mine and they were having babies every 10 days or so.

As for the ghost/glass shrimp, they are sneaky little buggers. I also had them with my fry and they would catch 1-3 a day. It kept the population down so I didn't mind too much but they are much more aggressive than most people think.

Pregnant Guppy

By the way, my 8" goldfish, Nemo, did eat the ghost shrimp. I'm considering putting the other one in there too (it's in my adult guppy tank). With momma guppy so close to giving birth again, I don't want that ghost shrimp grabbing the babies as they're born!

Thanks for your help!
