Pet Store Mayham

I went to a pet store in Hull, Quebec. Nice place called "Le Niche" great selection of fish. There fish room is stunning. Nice variety of freshwater and marine, plants are clean and very healthy. They even have breeding vats in the back. What I want to say is I saw this weird looking fish there. It looked like a balloon molly/ pearl gourami. The color and pattern and feelers of a pearl gourami, but the shape of a balloon molly.

My question is why would anyone want to breed something so strange?

the weirdest fish ever, I will go back and take a picture to show.

Well "strange" is subjective. And some people even love "strange!" But I'd like to see a picture. :D

I think that sounds neat, I'd also like to see it. I wonder if it's an actual species, or if it's something ill or deformed. .-.

Have you seen the Dumbo Octopus? lol http://31.media.tumblr.com/29998d3c1...fitwo1_400.jpg

They're weird too, but I think they're so cute. ^^; They look like something you'd see in a Final Fantasy game or Pokemon. lol

Here is an example of a Pearl Gourami cull that survived.

"Culling" is removing undesireable individuals from breeding stock. The breeder goes through the fish and keeps just the best ones, and gets rid of all the others.
The "culled" individuals may be:
Killed
Fed to other fish
Sold or given away
... or otherwise disposed of.

Reputable breeders would not sell any fish with known defects, though, so they destroy them or use them as "feeders." However, sometimes they just have more fish than they can use, so they have to give away/sell/dump some of them.

They may be trying to breed Balloon Pearl Gourami. Which is disgusting, but people buy them because they're interesting and small. It's like 'Angel Rams', which are deformed fish.

Balloon mollys are the same. They were breed from deformed fish, and have a slew of health problems.

Creepy looking fish, I feel bad for it :(

I hope you guys don't mind if I share one I found recently. I thought I had deleted it but I found it. I didn't write down the name... but I've never seen them before. The body was about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long without tail..
