otocinclus showing breeding behaviour?

everything i have read seems to suggest its rare and due to my tank being nothing special. Clean and well maintained but no special input from me.? Anyway my question is i witnessed the female frantically racing up and down followed closely by the male then she places herself under a leaf and he makes a t accross her head and rythmically pats her with his tail. About 10 seconds then they race up and down again. There are no eggs yet they seem to be in cortship? Any ideas do they fertalize on leaf eg does he do this to make her lay eggs which might explain she is still not ready to? Or do fish sometimes do the ritual without actually laying eggs.

I know this is an older thread now, but this link should help...www.otocinclus.com - Home of the Dwarf Suckermouth Catfishes

You are lucky to have seen it! I wish my Oto's would breed or at least try, although I don't even know if I have all males or females!
