She is huge, and has a black spot. I read that those are symptoms, but I dont know because it has been like this for a long time. Ive done my research, but still havent gotten to a conclusion. Sites say that she would not be eating, but she is... LIKE CRAZY!!! She sometimes hides, but not much anymore, and a couple of weeks ago she was "square" but I never saw any babies? I dont know what to do, and I really want babies, their so cute. ANd it didnt help that my local pet shop had guppy fry there, about a day or two old. Can anybody help me?
it could be that she has already dropped a few fry in the tank.....Are their other fish in the tank, besides guppies?.......if so, what kind of fish?......she might have already had a few and they got eaten by other tankmates...Its hard to say,not knowing all the info.........whenshe does drop the fry are you ready for a bunch more mouths to feed?........i cant give my fry away fast enough, i have fed some to my african cichlids just to manage their growout tank
Yes there are other fish, there are Platies, Swordtails, other guppies, mollies and tetras so your probably right... Should I post a picture of the pregnant guppy? She is really big and I dont know if I should put her in my 1 gallon tank, untill she gives birth.
Also, If I put her in the 1 gallon tank now, will she get stressed and die? Ive read so much online and now Im paranoid! I dont want anything to happen to my fish, therefore im trying so save as many fry as possible.
Well as to the one gallon... I normally save those for putting the baby guppies in after they have been born. I recommend you buy a plastic breeder at your LFS. I have read a lot about people saying that the plastic breeders are unsafe for the mother fish and such. Now I believe that this is all nonsense considering that I have never had any trouble with them. The babies will be born and swim underneath the grate so that the mother can not get to them and eat them. the ones I have float around inside the tank.
I moved my guppy into a 1 gallon tank so that she could give birth peacefully, it has been 9 days, and she was huge nine days ago, but now shes the same size but her spot has gotten bigger. WHen is she due??
