My Guppy just had Babies!

One of my female guppys just had babies! I looked at here this morning and saw she was about half her size. So I looked all over and couldn't find any. I took the filter out and and couldn't find any in there either. I was really bummed because I thought the others had eaten all the babies. Then I looked and saw one little baby in the corner, so I took all the guppys outta that tank and put them in the top tank. I also turned the filter off in my fry tank. Looking closer, I think I have about 6 little fry! Now I gotta figure out what to feed them.

i replied to you in your post. Very close just add some salt and you should be ok. and congrats with the fry. I remember how excited i was when i got my Swordtail fry my first time. Have fun with it. and yes. put flakes in a plastic bag and crush them into like a powder. it'll work. It seems like forever before they start getting color though. Around 2 months you can sex them.

When do you think I can put the other guppys back in without being affraid the fry will get eaten?

I turned the filter off so they won't they get sucked up. Now there is algee on my ship and plants, and the fry are eating the algee. Is this ok?

Not till they get a lot bigger (a couple weeks I think?). I'd get a sponge filter for that tank and hopefully your guppies are comfortable where they are. BTW...watch out for your female Guppy having more babies.

When they get a bit bigger, in a few weeks, you should be able to put the adults back in. Just remember to seperate males and females as soon as you can tell the difference or they will interbreed!

I wouldn't recommend salt. In Fw fish salt weakens the immune system which at this early age, is still just developing.

Thanks. I will have to look for a sponge for my filter. Is there anyway I can make one? And my official fry count has increased to at least 10!
