my danios

i have 4 neon tetras, 3 blue l-f danios, and 4 zebra danios, and i have seen fry around the time when the zebras came in(last), and i also noticed the zebra males chasing the blue l-f danio femmies, and vice versa. what would the different species produce? i have heard of leopard danios, and would they be produced from the two?

Well if they interbred then you can expect a hodgepodge and pretty much any combination of any and all traits of the parents. Leopards are a pure strain so getting one from a crossbreeding is unlikely but could happen.

The tetras, according to species, will not crossbreed although it is still possible, regardless of how improbable, if the tetras laid eggs when the danios were spawning. How else do you think we got a Duck Billed mammal that lays eggs and has a beaver tail?

If you do get cross breeds, what do you plan to do with the offspring? If you do sell them to a LFS please make sure that they know they are cross breeds so anyone who wants to breed pure strains will know not to buy the crosses.

I'm taking it that the blue L/F danios you mention are the readily available
F4 or F5 hybrids of leopard/glowlight danios.

as leopards are a man made morph of the zebra it is quite possible that zebras and these 'blues' will breed together, however the offspring may not be viable to fry, let alone adult.
it would be interesting to see though.

now that they are bigger, i can see that they have small jewels on the top of their heads, and they change color a little, like the sides of the neons. could the neons have bred? i hear that they are very hard to breed. maybe the neons laid eggs and one of the danios fertilized? what would they grow into?
