ok I have one batch of fry that only 5 survived but they are all female for some reason and now I have a brand new batch of 14 dalmation mollies but they are all female also. so how come I dont have any male frys?
It usually has more to do with patience than anything else. At a few weeks old, all mollies look like females no matter their final sex. At between 2 and 3 months, you should be able to tell male from female in mollies. These mollies are 5 weeks old and I am not prepared to believe that I have gotten 35 all female mollies in a single drop from sheer luck when the chances are 50/50.
I just back off a bit and use the zoom. I am careful to focus the best that I can by hand because the auto-focus never seems to get it right.
